Wife and I are on second weekend trip with our toy hauler.  Learning about how to weekend with one of these (new to anything like an RV) before we start hauling our motorcycles around in it, like we used to do with our 18" Wells Cargo trailer.

So far, no big issues.  Just have to take care with the Happi Jack brake, and get the fridge started the day before leaving. ;-)

Welcome! I'm not familiar with the Happijac, but I'm sure anything by that name would need care.  :D

Welcome to the board! Do tell us what tow vehicle you have. I thought Happi Jack brakes were on monster trucks?

The first time out with the trailer, we didn't load the bikes (just wanted to learn the systems of the trailer).  After raising the bed, I forgot to ensure the brake was on, and by the time we had traveled to our destination, the bed had settled half way back down.  The mental vision of what it would have looked like if our bikes had been stowed under it was not good.

Since then, I've always tripled checked that brake before towing, and the bed has stayed in place just fine.

"[strike]Captain[/strike] Happy Jack will get you high tonight

And take you to your special island

[strike] Captain[/strike] Happy Jack will get you by tonight

Just a little push, and you'll be smilin'

Oh yeah,..."
Billy Joel - Captain Jack Lyrics

[strike]Captain  [/strike]Happy Jack in 'Woody' is one of the best features of our LL toyhauler.  However, it has no manual brake system.

Located on the interior wall to the left of entrance, a simple rocker switch pushed 'up' lifts Happy Jack as high as the ceiling.  Conversely, with a little push, Happy Jack lowers to any height that gets you through the night.   Bedclothes, pillows and more remain tucked up and out of the way on Happy Jack when fully raised.   Then, voila, we have additional living room/dining room space.  With a little push to dining table height, Happy Jack makes for happy dogs who LOVE lounging on it in the evenings while their crates sit empty just inches below.  :P

With just a little push,  we're smilin' on our special island... oh yeah.

Guess this is the brake being discussed?

[/quote]That's the one I've been discussing.  Can't help but think some other's may have been making some more creative associations with the phrase

I don't have experience with HappiJac. Here's a helpful link with document resources & contact info.
