has anyone had the fortune of their stereo hanging halfway out when you reach your destination...I was looking for clips that hold it in but haven't found any yet. any thoughts would be appreciated...thx. I'm worried it will come out again and smash the range top glass while on the road...

It should have a really solid click when you slide it back.

it is a standard automotive single din unit.  a thin metal sleeve slides into the plastic under cabinet mount and is then help in place by bending tabs outward that press against the plastic cabinet mount.

once the sleeve is secure, the head unit slides into the sleeve and has a spring loaded clip on each side which will give you the solid clock TT mentioned.

it is probably the sleeve causing the problem  (the tabs werent bent outward enough or at all).  use the 2 long metal tabs that came with your instruction pack.  slide on in each side of the head until and it will release the spring loaded clips.  pull the stereo out and inspect the sleeve.  if the tabs on the sides an top/bottom are not bent outward, do so with a small screwdriver.  when satisfied, reinsert the stereo (without the long metal tabs) until it clicks into place

Thudd3r, Techie,

thx I will look for the tabs this weekend and practise my car stereo B & E skills...do thieves even steal these things anymore?

thudd3r

i really doubt it...at least not the ones LL uses in their campers.  at least mine was a low end budget dual receiver that probably retailed for less that $50.  not even worth stealing.

i upgraded significantly to a digital media receiver with all the bells and whistles and it was still barely $130

edit...if anyone reading this needs to replace their head unit, shoot me a message and you can have my stock unit gratis...just pay for the ride

hmmm now you've got me thinking about a new receiver...

crutchfield.com...it is a curse to your wallet  lol.  although, i have found some great deals on amazon too

might as well upgrade those 5.25s at the same time.  i probably went a little overboard for a camper...but it sounds great and keeps the bears away  8D
