[p]Well, we only used our 21RBS twice since we got it (and before she sleeps for the winter), and the last time was an eye opener.[/p][p]
[/p][p]Our trip home, and a short trip for the first camping were fine, no problems. Bought the WD hitch and everything, worked great till now.[/p][p]
[/p][p]But our first "real" test involved a full trailer (full water tank) and a full tow vehicle (a 2003 Chev Trailblazer that had a 6500 lb tow rating) with 3 people and lots of gear. Even though everything was well within the load range, I was sucking gas at a rate I could not fathom, and as such almost ran out of gas, barely made it 300 km on a tank. The main cause was a substantial head wind on the way back (50 kph plus).[/p][p]
[/p][p]Well, I don't think that vehicle was up to the task (and it was getting old) so now I have upgraded to a Ford F150 FX4 with the full max tow package (10800 lbs) and 136 litre fuel tank. I think this one will be sufficient.[/p][p]
[/p][p]Can't wait to try it out next spring, whenever that comes.[/p]

Hello Gibby:

I tow a 16DB with F150 Lariat 4X4 with the EcoBoost motor.

Best mileage I have ever seen towing was 12 miles to the US Gallon.
Normally about 10.
Which is half the mileage when not towing.

But what a fantastic tow vehicle.
If you have it, use the Tow / Haul function on the transmission.

And the rear camera makes hitching up soooo easy.

[/quote]After seeing the rear camera, that became a "Must Have" when checking out the trucks. And yes, it has one, as well as the max tow package, can't think of a better tow vehicle.

Good move. The first "accessory" we bought for our 21RBS was a 2013 Ford F150 Lariat (5.0 V8, max tow pkg, integrated brake controller, rear camera, NAV, etc). We opted to not get 4x4 but did get the selectable locking rear end. In fact we took delivery of the F150 last week - which triggered the purchase of the TT yesterday :)

The 4X4 is not an option, (well yes you can get a 2WD version, but you have to special order, and even then, they think you have rocks in your head).
