Not sure about the chrome panels, but LL and their materiel supplier recommend mild soap and water. Nothing stronger, no abrasives and no strong chemicals.

I would assume that like diamond deck, it is buffed and then has some sort of clear coat applied. So yeah, scratches will show REAL WELL.

Treat it gently and it will incinerate nearby plastic vehicles for years to come. If the sun is at the right angle, I mean.

*I don't actually mean "right angle" in the Euclidean Geometry sense. 90deg is probably not ideal for solar incineration.

When I was a manager at a trucking firm, drivers use to go to truck stops and get their aluminum wheels shinned there.  basically it was a guy with a buffing wheel and polish.  back then they charged $5 a wheel. If there is a big truck stop near you, there is probably somebody doing it there, especially if they have a chrome or CB shop

At our dealership, we clean the exterior aluminum walls and diamond plate stoneguard trim in 2 parts. 1) Rinse the exterior with water ONLY to remove excess dirt and grim. 2) Use [a href="http://www.fw1canada.com/"]FW-1[/a] wash and wax with a microfiber cloth. NOTE: You can use glass cleaner on the aluminum, however FW-1 works the best.

Get it coated with a pickup bed liner coating and be done with it for the rest of your ownership.

We've had our Axxess with mirror-finish exterior for one year and have not yet washed it.  No need... it looks clean effortlessly.  Only the painted front and back shows dust/grime.

When we met Scott Tuttle and his LL crew last year just prior to LL's divestiture, we were told that our Axxess' side panels are tongue-in-groove aluminum panels that are 'dipped', not polished aluminum nor chrome and not 'painted' as with other LL 'color' finishes.  The finish is so reflective that it is hard to see imperfections or dirt.  I've tried to photograph the woodpecker damage we incurred but cannot capture it in pictures.  With the naked eye, the bird's handiwork is nearly indistinguishable unless you know what you're looking for.

Fortunate for us, our haulers have a unique finish that seems to take care of itself.   And oh, prepare for a lot of attention!  Yeah, you'll get questions, but they are few compared to all of the stares!   We used to think, "wow, we must have a really nice looking hauler".  Wrong!  The mirror-like finish, (mirror finish being the best comparison we can draw) just makes you want to look at yourself...even if you're a bird.

Have fun and reflect on!

That's funny! The truth is its probably both --- they are thinking nice looking trailer and enjoying their reflection.
