Considering a Quicksilver popup, have a few questions

I'm not saying it's likely but I've also learned to never say never. That is part of the reason I was hoping to see the picture. I can't speak for the forwarded email, or the interaction you've had with the dealer. I know LL has had many changes recently but the core people still seem to be around and Don is usually the one handling warranty issue. Based on a personal experience and the reports from others the situation you just went through sounds out of the ordinary for him. I'm glad it worked out in the end though.

Sean even if you leave the center support in after the canvas is unsnapped and you are in the process of closing the camper up the canvas is not under tension it would be impossible to drive the center support through the canvas.  You could perhaps bend the bimi bars or damage the center support bar but drive it through the canvas?  Not possible.

Like Sean, I am interested as well. I did manage, one time only, to forget to remove the center support bar in our 8.1. We always drop the "small end first" and the bar just popped off the biminis and fell. There was no damage to the bar, the biminis, or the tent. It was embarrassing   but not damaging. I also cannot see a reason for this tear.

Here is one of the photos I sent.  As with anything there are dozens of hypothetical possibilities.  Making an accusations that questions a customers integrity is a poor business model.  Seams separate, it happens and it is far from uncommon.  To suggest something from user error to a tree fell through it, well that is clearly grasping for straws.  Lets be honest with any thing that is presented to them one can imagine a scenario that renders the warranty moot.  IMO that is not the way a warranty should be honored.

You are not going to like my opinion on this, but that doesn't look like a seam separating from a defect to me. It looks like that attachment loop was pulled away from the seam to the point that it even started to tear into the fabric wall. It even looks like there are holes from the stitching that are torn out. None of which would be what I expect to see from a seam that is simply separating from a normal defect.

The seam was stronger then the fabric itself?  Not likely.  Once the seam fails the surrounding fabric is stressed because it is no longer supported uniformly.

I don't follow your logic. The stresses on the tent in that area don't pull on those loops unless something is wrong. There is no reason for the fabric to start to tear down the wall, again unless something was wrong. Also as I've said, I have learned to never say never. So I can't say if that is a defect or not, but from my experience the picture look like the fabric was ripped due to non-normal use.

When a seam pulls out the stresses on the fabric are no longer spread out over a wide area but now forces can be localized.  If you own things with covers, boats or wave runners for example when the seam fails it does not continue to tear along the seam it begins to tear along the fabric, every time. Having owned both I know that from experience. Seen it to many times.  In any event I know exactly how the unit was set up and taken down and that was per LL instructions.

That's your opinion. I too have owned many 'things with covers' and how things rip all depend on where the stresses are. I don't see how that tear happens with the way the top is stressed in a normal situation. That is my experience.
