what do you all carry in a repair kit?  anything?

after having the toilet flush valve crack and leak and a bulb or 2 burn out, i put together a small kit using one of those plastic containers with the multiple compartments.  it is stashed in the back of one of the cabinets.

so far it has...

various wire nuts and crimp connectors
various screws, nuts and bolts
a couple feet of pex
a few hose clamps
light bulbs (leds)
sealant
epoxy
electrical tape
a few feet of wire in different gauges
fuses
replacement toilet flush valve
zip ties

never know, might be just enough to allow you to limp through the rest of a camping trip

Yep. Been there, done that, got the T shirt. My flush valve cracked in such a way that it leaked without flushing. I had instant  notification when I repressurized. So now I also carry an extra replacekment valve. Cheap insurance.

BTW, that valve will drain if you hold the flush pedal down a few seconds after you drain the rest of the system. Or you can disconnect as described in the instructions.

I don't carry any parts because I believe I can usually get what I need for at least a temporary fix at a hardware store along the way. I do carry along my tool bag, which has enough stuff to disassemble the whole RV if necessary ;-).

[p]Same as David, I carry a lot of electrical, mechanical, and a few specialty tools. I also carry a few specialty repair parts. I can, if need be, change wheel bearings in the field. And, I just purchased spare bearings and seals for my 21RBS. I'm passing this along as I got, IMO, a pretty good deal on American made Timken bearings.  [a href="https://www.drivetrainamerica.com/showproduct.aspx?ProductID=3631&SEName=a4-timken-bearing-set-l44610-l44649"]https://www.drivetrainamerica.com/showproduct.aspx?ProductID=3631&SEName=a4-timken-bearing-set-l44610-l44649[/a] I don't know if the seals are American made as the country of origin is not displayed. I purchased (4) each A4 and A17 bearings, race is included in box, and (6) 10-19 double lip seals for $68. and $15. shipping. Much more than Chinese, but much better.     [/p]

what are these "instructions" you speak of?  :D

As I recall the toilet manual discusses how to drain the valve. It also details how to replace the valve when you forget. The valve is designed for such easy replacement that I suspect they found this to be a common problem. And when I went to buy a replacement valve from my RV store after a freeze he looked at me knowingly. He had one left. Another dealer had just bought his other 16.

My repair kit, includes fuses and some of that seal all tape stuff.  Wife bought me a roll for Christmas.  I have not had a valve problem, but I did have a shower head issue.  winterized but somehow did not get the shower head good enough and it cracked.  Found when I dewinterized, so had plenty of time to repair prior to first trip.

thats the one i installed as well (but in white).  one note, it is a lot longer that the one that came in my vrv.  to get the head high enough i had to mount the holder quite a bit higher that the original, which meant drilling 2 new holes.  i used the original screws and some sealant to seal the old holes from the original holder

i really like the shower head though...definitely worth it
