When the time comes for a replacement for my 6.0, I'll have an awning shop make one for me. Also, if you have it made slightly taller, you'll have room for your tarps and awning. I also carry a rake under mine, along with sections of pvc pipe I use to prop up a large tarp for rainy day camping.

I have a 2010 6.0 with factory installed air. The a/c unit is located behind a flip down door and slides out for operation. The slides are nothing more than inexpensive drawer slides. The a/c unit is attached by two screws. Very easy to remove for cold season camping. I'll post pictures later if interested.

I see in your photo you posted Feb 11, 2016 that the stretcher bars between the bimini bars aren't installed. That would be the simplest solution  to your tenting flapping. As others have noted, no one else has had this issue. Another thought might be your replacement tenting is either too big, or the snaps were installed too loosely. When installing the spreader bars I have to clip them to the bimini bars on an angle and then slide them into final position, the tenting is that tight.

As a 2010 6.0 owner, my a/c unit slides out. As such, the weight of the unit causes it to hang lower at the back. This works well to allow the condensate pan ( which is actually just the bottom of the a/c housing ) to drain thru a few holes I drilled at the lower back corners. Yes, I understand the a/c efficiency can be increased by allowing the pan to contain the water and have it spray on the coils,but setting up a camper at just the right angle is not always easy. Besides, I became extremely tired of having to ensure the pan was dry on close-up, or risk water on the floor. I believe max a/c is obtained by the unit hanging out completely as in a home install and the use of pop up gizmos or equivalent, which also has the extra benefit of keeping the tenting clean. 

He should not have a wheel well issue on a 6.0. The camper box does not have wheel wells cut into it like your 10.0. This was another compromise with a 6.0,resulting in a narrower box, but it does allow a low tow weight. It will produce a wider track if you go with larger, wider tires.

You are correct. Pick up a mono headphone extension cord. Online, many different lengths available. May want to get right angle male end.

Many people use pop up gizmos for temperature control. Side benefit of keeping tenting clean. I use space blankets for same results.

Mine slides out on two drawer slides. Simple enough system. Only two screws anchor it to the slides. I added some cut up pool noodles to help seal the gaps when the unit is deployed.  I'll post a couple of photos if you'd like.

Cooler is the key word. With the reflective surface away from the tenting, I've measured  a 15 degree difference between inside and outside temps. My a/c unit was able to bring the interior temp down another 12 degrees, and also cut the humidity. This was with the heavy duty space blankets and spring clips from Home Depot. No more than $50 invested, with an additional benefit of keeping the tenting cleaner. In the cold months I put the orange side out. Small ceramic heater has had no trouble down to single digits. Another addition has been Reflectix insulation cut to fit all of my zip open windows. Available at all the home stores.

My 6.0 cools down nicely in a typical hot and sticky Ga. summer. Of course, adding pop up gizmos or the homemade equivalent is good for 10-15 degrees cooler in the trailer.

Remove the wheel and hub cap removes from the back.

If buying used, good luck in your search. I located mine at a Fla. dealer.Do you know your tow capacity on your Forester? It appears the manual trans model is 2400lbs. You might want to consider an 8.0 or an 8.1 if you have that much tow capacity. Having a 6.0, I would love to have the extra space of an 8.
