That awl tool worked great. Actually, in this case we didn't really need the awl portion, because I realized the zipper and canvas weren't torn; the thread had simply parted.

The needles that came with the tool and the heavy wax thread were perfect.

We have the Coleman thermoelectric. I think it is called the power chill. When we are driving I can plug it in to the DC outlet in the back of the van, so it is also good for regular vacations

Thanks, guys. For $11 on my Amazon Prime account, I'm going to try that heavy duty sewing kit. I'll ask my wife to help.

I'm not opposed to enlisting professional help, but the simpler option seems worth a try first. I'll post a picture afterward.

We have a 10.0, towed by an Odyssey. Surprisingly, we don't get many questions, but maybe that's because it's more conventionally sized and the van is not an uncommon tow vehicle.

One suggestion about beds--get the kids the egg crate. For the adults, splurge on a memory foam mattress topper (Walmart or Target). HUGE improvement.

There is a portion of the zipper on the "door" where the zipper has torn from the vinyl. Has anybody dealt with this? What do you use to sew it? (I need specific product recommendations, I'm not very "handy.")
