[p]We are new to the site and have enjoyed reading posts from other owners of Livinlite trailers. I will be retiring in June and we are planning some extended trips across the country visiting as many national parks as we can, hiking and bike riding.

Welcome and congrats on your soon to be retirement!!!!! We like to camp all over the nation, too.
Congratulations on retiring soon! Nice rig! Perhaps we will see you down the road!
Leslie, I sure admire your independent and adventurous spirit! Its inspiring. (Dana)
Welcome! Curious about your profile photo. I want to go there! Where is it?
Thanks CMac, its Capitol Reef National Park in Utah. Its off the beaten path and one of the least known and visited of our National Parks. One of our favorites.
Welcome from North GA.
If you venture into the mid-south region for national parks I recommend Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Mammoth Cave as well as Shennandoah

Hey hiker 74, thanks, our first love is the parks out west but we now live just outside of Atlanta and have been to and enjoyed those 3 parks you mention. We had plans to camp last week at Great Smoky but the forecast -- rain everyday -- kept us home instead. But in June we'll head to our favorite spot within 100s of miles -- Balsam Mountain Campground in Great Smoky NP. At 5300 ft its pristine and a delightful respite from the summer heat and humidity of the southeast. A few yrs ago we rode our motorcycle from Great Smoky along the Blue Ridge Parkway to Shenandoah -- an unforgettable experience rivaling any adventure we've had out west.
Sounds like a great trip. Our friend have a travel trailer and they stay in Elkmont Campground inside GSMNP, but they have the advantage of having a water tank and a good battery. We try and stay where there are bathrooms and showers. I really don't need electricity with the LED lights we now have, but gotta have a shower.

[/quote]I like Cosby campground on the North end of the park. Even though it's only 20 miles or so North of Gatlinburg, it never gets crowded like Elkmont,Smokemont or Cades Cove. As far as a shower a shower tent and a Zodi water heater work for boondocking .
