Hello,
My Wife and I just purchased a 21RBS. We will pick it up at the end of the month. Needed time off to drive out to Iowa and retrieve the beast. This is our second camper and I like to think it will be our last, but who knows what great things are just around the corner? I camped as a kid up in the Adirondacks and she camper camped as a kid.
Anyways, I was steered here by a friend in the podding world, Fur Pod, they say hello to all you current/former pod owners.
I have surfed for a few days and just did the registration. So I will continue to look around and It is nice to see an active group who like to help each other.
Drop in say Hello and visit Kentucky, it is a great state with lots of great camp sites just waiting for you book them.
Welcome & Congrats on your 21RBS!!!!!! Probably camping @ Kentucky Horse Park this summer!
Welcome to CL land and our forum. And hi to Furpod. As an ex podder I still check in and participate regularly. We'll get Furpod into a CL someday!

Welcome from North GA.
OK, I am going to display my ignorance and ask what a Furpod is.

Several of us were members there when we owned r-pods.

No. The FurPod is a unique migratory version of a Forest River RPOD often seen in KY and the Eastern US. Its unique interior mods are a result of two long haired dogs traveling with their owners. We occasionally visit the RPOD forum to spread the en
litenment (SP?) of LL, hoping that some will eventually see the lite and join us here. Until then, happy camping to both great groups. 8-) ;)

When Furpod was mentioned, my imagination was close to the explanation provided by charliem. You could say my Camplite is going to the dogs!
Furpod will in fact, someday, roll a 21RBS.. Our friend the OP, has had some unfortunate ownership challenges with their current wooden square box. Luckily, it wasn't enough to send them back to a tent. So after a couple evenings of searching and researching, tincan and I found them a 21 RBS, not to far from home. (8 hours) lol.
Leslie, we almost bought a 21RBS in 2012, and that was the plan, but the pull of the Pod community is very strong, and even after a factory visit.. we couldn't sell furpod, and so didn't buy a CL then. Luckily the woman we were going to sell to was very understanding, and bought a new one.. We have pretty much decided we will continue to be a two camper family, so SWMBO has set the rule that the Airstream has to go before a CL is bought.
I have much hope the CL community will become as strong, active and vibrant as the Pod group.
Where in Kentucky do furpod and the dogs go? As of June 1, hubby and I will be retired in the Louisville area. That is, when we aren't off with our Camplite exploring someplace new. Would be happy to meet up with folks from this board. We know all the best places to go around here. A love for bourbon is a good place to start.
Leslie, there are several nice CG's around, and lots of Pod and friends gatherings throughout the year in the KY area. If getting to the area June 1st, and if you want to meet several of the locals, we have a pods and friends event in June over in WV. [a href="http://www.rpod-owners.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=5267&title=6th-annual-eastern-round-up"]6th ERU[/a] I *think* there is a CL signed up already.
We go to Diamond Caverns (near Mammoth Cave NP), Axtel CG on Rough River Lake, O'Bannon Woods just west of the 'ville in Indiana, near Corydon. Green River state park, Nolin Lake state park. Furpod loves Energy Lake down in LBL, but it's a little out of the way, and doesn't have full hookups so many shy away.. perfect for us. This year a lot of our camping is in other states.. TN, WV NC, IN, OH.
Lots of other great areas and campgrounds in Kentucky.. Danial Boone SP has some great camping, and very near there is Carter Caves, very nice areas. General Butler SP is nice, though a bit crowded in a couple loops, and north of the 'ville is Brown County SP, some of the prettiest area in 3 states.. great hiking and mountain biking.
Hey all. Leslie, Furpod beat me to the punch and listed most of where we go, have gone, will go again. My only addition to his list is Big Bone Lick state park, near to Cinci, lots O great food there.
Yes Bourbon, Dogs and Camping always go well together. We live about 40 minutes south of the Ville. So I will try to post up camping dates or events in the area, ya'll are always welcome, drop in and pet the pup.
While you are listing good campsites in Kentucky, you didn -
Augghh! My cell shut down!
Again - good list there, but you don't have Lake Cumberland State Park on your Kentucky list. My husband and I have visited several times, but this fall we want to camp there. Beautiful park, good hiking, a boat launch - definitely worth a trip.

Let me know. I will bring my favorite bourbon and my dogs! With all the bourbon that is produced in Kentucky, I can't believe I have to pay attention to the dry counties so I can stay out of trouble!

I have much hope the CL community will become as strong, active and vibrant as the Pod group.
How long has the POD group been going? What do you think makes it so vivacious? Also, you mention camping events in other areas this year. We would be interested in knowing of get-togethers in TN. Thanks, Pod'na!

The second forum splintered off about 2 years later, and is the far more active of the forums. The FB group is about 3 years old now, +2000 members, near as we can tell somewhere around 20% of all Pod owners on the planet are members. The FB group is the most active of the virtual Podness.. I think, it's partly a matter of the type of person who buys a pod, and also, one of those things where we passed a tipping point of active posting members.. and now the thing sort of drives itself.. We have lots of new first RV types, generally young and tech savvy, used to the e-world, and lots of experienced downsizers willing to share what they know and have done/been. And really, just about everything in-between. I would guess, we have several hundred, if not near a thousand, posts every day on the FB group. People can reach it from anywhere their smartphone has service, and get help with any problem they may encounter, often in seconds to minutes from problem to solved problem. We share TONS of pictures of camp sites, gear reviews, mods, dogs, camping recipes, etc.
Forest River puts on a dozen or more FROG events each tear, open to all FR owners, BUT the podders put on twice as many across the country every year. (We also, don't get uppity about "make" or model)
Next weekend, APR 22-26, for instance, there is the Tink and Ella's Spring Fling in Townsend TN, with +20 campers in attendance, including furpod, AND, the 2nd Annual Northwest Pod Party, at Deception Pass in Oregon, with, the last time I looked, 55 pods and friends. There is ALSO a virtual "camp where you are" event going that weekend.. though I don't have all the details, but it's driven by the FB group. We actually throw out a couple of those every year, I "host" one in the dead of winter, with some competitions and requirements, meant to help break up the winter no-camping suck. The FB group is "a closed group" so I can't link to the event page, and it appears Tink doesn't have the Spring Fling listed at the owners forum for some reason, BUT you can ask to join the FB group, then look under events for more details, if you FB, and if you are interested. I have never been to Tremont Outdoor Resort, so can only say previous Spring Flings have been great, and Tink and Ella have not picked a bad location yet. Call, tell them you are with Tink.. Glad to have you.
OH.. and sorry for running amok in your introduction thread tincan.. which reminds me..
WELCOME! to the group. :)
LOL, RUN AMOK!
Camper comes home this weekend, a tad bit excited!
