Title: !6 Dbs in Calgary Canada
Post by: 2moonunit on April 05, 2015, 12:58:19 PM
Hello Group.  Picked up my new 16 DBS yesterday in Edmonton.  What a beautiful trailer.  Fuel economy was a bit steeper than I thought it would be though, coming home from edmonton was 22L per 100 km.  Oh well this will make camping so much better.   Already modified!! , new mattress, and a trailer valet installed for getting the trailer parked beside the garage.  Can wait to go camping!!!!

Nice camper and welcome. For those of us south of the border, that's about 10.7 mpg. What are you using for a tow vehicle?

[font face="comic sans ms" size="4"]Congratulations on your new 16 DBS!

We own a 14 DBS and had wonderful camping experiences in it last year. We got around 11 mpg on level highway driving. In the mountains of West Virginia we got around 10 mpg. The main fuel drain seems to be the wind turbulence on the front end of the trailer. Driving in rainy weather, I can see the rain swirling around a lot at the front corners of the trailer. I use overdrive only on level ground or going down hill.

Regardless, you should have many years of camping enjoyment in a well designed and built travel trailer!

ENJOY!!!

Great, another Calgary owner.

We got our 21RBS last year, and are also chomping at the bit to get out. Trying to get some of the mods suggested on here done (WD hitch and coupler, mattress too).

What are you doing for warranty work (you're not running back to Edmonton for it, are you?)

Thanks for the kind welcome folks. I think I will really enjoy this trailer.  I seams well built and is a nice step up from the tent trailer I had.  Although the tt had a rack on the front for my motorcycle that I will miss.  Now to get it all set up for camping in late may or early june.  Need to do a few practice runs before the trek to vancouver island for 5 weeks.  As far as warranty work I hope there will be no issues as I don't feel like driving to edmonton and back for work.I can fix most things myself.  Thanks for the info on fuel economy... now I don't feel so bad.

Welcome to the forum! Cograts on the new addition! You're not alone with the mpg. I was getting 22L/km with the 13 RDB and a V8 Chev Silverado on the way back from Carefree in Edmonton on Hwy 2. The head wind just kills you. Have had better luck since then avg 16-18 L/km in the mountains (unless there's a chinook !)
Happy trails, glad to hear of another Camplite in cowtown.

Question for you bae146, how do you like your trailer valet? I'm thinking about getting one for my 14DBS.

The Trailer Valet seams to work well.  I bought it as I have a tight spot for parking.  The day I used it to park the trailer, it was wet and the tires started slipping when trying to go up the incline into the yard.  It was a bit of a workout as well.  It did take a fair bit of effort to move.  That all being said it did work well for me and I am happy I bought it.

Thanks for the review. The place where I park my 14DBS is a bit tricky, but not too difficult. Just wanted to make it easier for me and my dad, and thought the trailer valet might be a good solution.

Hi AB folks!  Which RV dealer did you deal with?  Was it a good experience?  I am in MB but I am willing to travel to get a good deal. Still doing online research so I havent seen one in person but Camplites sure do look awesome.
