Just traded an Aliner Scout for a 14DBS. Doing my walkthrough Thursday. Purchased from Lazydays in Tucson. Taking the new camper to Moab in a couple of weeks can't wait. This forum gave me a lot of good pointers to look at when choosing my model. I peaked under the camper to inspect the concerns of some of the attachments of the tanks and every thing seems to have been addressed, all tank holding straps appear to be aluminum covered with rubber where they touch the tanks. I am very impressed with the build quality.
Welcome and Congrats on your 14DBS!
Congrats and welcome. Good choice!
Wow. I am kind of out of my depth here, but...it appears that you DO in fact have enough tow vehicle.
Go figure.
Welcome! Nice CL choice. I'll bet that's a good trailer/tow vehicle set up. In fact, you could take that out on the "Metal Masher" off-road run at Moab when you go. :D
Came here to welcome you as best another new owner can and WHAM! Learned something new about the tank hangs.
Welcome from JawJah

Congratulations on your exciting upgrade! We bought our new LL from 'Maze Days', different location. Maze because after the deal is signed, felt as though we were caught up in one. Salesman disappears and new person pops out. Impressive place, but impersonal. Huge outfit where often left hand is unaware of right hand's doings. In retrospect, and for your benefit, we would offer the following:
(Note: When the service technician greets you Thursday and says "sure hope we don't find too many problems here" and doesn't have a pen and paper on him, be ready to take your own notes/pics.)
1. Plan to stay close-by, preferably dealer's RV park (if Tucson has one). Dealer may allow a free stay.
2. If #1 is not possible, make sure your unit is plugged in by Wednesday (for Thursday inspection) so that upon your arrival you'll be sure, at the least, that the refrigerator works. We learned post-PDI that it requires at least a day to reach optimum temp. Even so, our LL wasn't even plugged in for our inspection! Goes without saying, check all appliances, lights, radio and speakers, tv, plumbing (if water hookup is available).
2. Ask for ladder and examine for yourself all seams on the roof. If any gaps in the sealant are found, ask the technician to fix before signing off.
3. Make sure battery compartment is secure. Our battery was found sitting most precariously.
4. Open and close all windows and check weatherstripping. Make sure blinds are installed and do operate properly.
5. Check the latches on all cabinets. They can be booger-bears (especially for the 'little lady'), but can be adjusted easily by dealer.
6. If you have 'jack-knife' sofa/bed, ask them to show you how to operate. This may save you from throwing your back out since these can be very tricky.
6. If you have aluminum, debris, scuff marks, etc., ask dealer's housekeeping to come in and tidy up.
7. Maintain a good, but firm rapport with your salesperson. The 'point of sale' guy has leverage with other departments should they overlook corrective action or miss deadlines.
All this to say, while it took some time to take full possession of our LL Axxess toy hauler and bring it home, on our first official 'shake-down' over the February 14th weekend, everything worked flawlessly. Get ready for the many people who will want to check you out....seriously. It took us by surprise. :)
Hope this helps.
First..congratulations and welcome. When you do your walk through, make sure to inspect the windows both inside and out with a fine tooth comb. One of ours had a crack that we were unable to see in the lower corner until a camplite dealer pointed it out when we had it in to have a sofa bed replaced and a leak fixed. It turns out the leak was actually from improper sealing of a seam.
We too upgraded from an AFrame!
Thanks all for the warm welcome and also for the walk down pointers. I chose to have them set it up next door at the KOA, Lazydays had originally owned the campground but sold it to KOA recently, but they still have the use of 10 sites. Part of my deal is one night there for my shakedown. I am leaving my camper in storage at Lazydays until I leave in May.
I will be going over everything on the camper making sure everything is functioning. Right now I plan on taking a few camping trips before I leave in May, so even if I find some issues they will have time to correct before my May departure.
Take a spin through the bloopers thread for our dumb mistakes you should not repeat.
