Title: Plug in and battery power
Post by: mitch on December 07, 2014, 12:36:59 PM
Hi All,

I've removed the battery from my 13QBB for the winter, can I still plug the camper in to shore power and use the 120v side of things or is there a risk of damage since the battery leads are not connected to anything? Thanks

Mitch

First wrap electrical tape around the positive battery lug clamp so it doesn't short to anything and then you will be ok to plug the unit into AC.

But what are you trying to power with 120V AC? Air conditioning and the battery converter are the only two things that are powered with AC on that unit. Maybe a portable dehumidifier? I would prefer to plug that in to an extension cord directly rather than keep power on the unit all winter.

Thanks David, no sometimes I just pine away for the lazy warm days of summer and so I thought I'd take a small ceramic heater into the camper and plug it into the outlet.   Once it's nice and cozy I can take a nap and dream of future camping trips.
