Title: Screen problem
Post by: runningwriter on November 18, 2014, 11:52:07 AM
Having a screen problem while camping.  It seems that the nylon spline that locks the screen into the grey cross member is loosened.  It was creeping up in the vertical track.

Can I remove the 4 screws that secure the screen retractor and free just that part from the rest of the frame?

If I can drop it, I can work on pushing the spline and screen back up into place more easily.

Thanks,
Dave

Let the records show that this is a pretty easy fix.  First, separate window screen from the shade, as if to open the window. Then, remove the 4 screws that hold the screen roller portion of the window to the wall.  It will come down from the window leaving the two side channels in place.  Pull about 8" of screen out from the roller.  Clamp the screen to a table top.  The nylon spline that holds the screen to its keeper just slides back into the pocket along the top of the screen and then, both slide on into the slot at the bottom of that horizontal keeper.  Assembly is the reverse order.  Good as new.

Speaking of screens....does anyone have any ideas of how to clean the screens without damaging them. Ours have some bug splotches that are unsightly. There must be a product that we can apply, CAREFULLY, and not hurt the screen. I, for one, am a big fan of these units. Another reason why I bought my LL.
