Title: Campgrounds in Virginia or North Carolina Wine country?
Post by: ron on May 30, 2014, 05:01:06 PM
Looking for great travel trailer campgrounds near wineries in Virginia, such as Veritas [ Afton VA], or in the Yadkin Valley of NC.  Do not want commercial, side by side camping.  Prefer a more wide open state or national park feel, or similar in a private park.   Electricity nice but not required.  Myself, wife and dog, not interested in playgrounds, kiddie activities, just quiet solitude in the forest, so we can sample some local wines and chill out.

2 in North Carolina: Stone Mountain state park and Hanging Rock state park. Both are nice spots to enjoy the cooler weather of slightly higher elevation. Both would require a short drive to nearby vineyards.

You might also take a look at New River State Park. It's a little farther away, but I've heard that it's a great place. And it does have electric and water hookups.
