Title: Emergency brake cable
Post by: kycamper on July 29, 2016, 10:22:50 PM
We just pulled into a campsite in Great Barrington. I don't like setting up the trailer in the dark after a long, not so pleasant drive. So...... I accidentally got the run away cable tangled up when I unhitched my tow and pulled it out!!

The question is..... what next ??
Will I have any difficulty finding out where to replug the plastic dohickey??
Do I have to do anything else after finding the place and plugging it in??
Are my wheels forever locked up??

It's better than when I hooked up my battery backwards in the dark.....no fuses to mess with???!!!

Thanks. I'm going under the hitch tomorrow morning.

[font size="3"]No problem. Just reinsert the key (on the cable) back into the slot on the brake switch and make sure it's seated well. Tow carefully at first to make sure the brakes are not set. The switch is designed for moderate use in testing so you just tested it inadvertently.

And if you have any connections in Chicago send them out to Portlandia to visit Pins.  ;)

I think everybody has done this. If you can't find the place to plug it in, talk to another camper. They might know where to look. If all else fails, a mobile RV tech can help. The laughing will hurt your pride more than your pocketbook.
