We've done 3 years in a row in the Eastern Sierras. So, now we're looking at a Yellowstone adventure next summer. Up the 15 fwy into Vegas, then somewhere in Utah , then on to Yellowstone, 3 days getting there. We don't care if we are super close. Bathrooms and showers prime concern. Hookups less so.. It'd be nice if there was some space between spaces..and trees
Any suggestions?
Much of Yellowstone has bears and the park does not allow canvas sided trailers in those areas. So look at the campgrounds around Yellowstone Lake. Some are ok for canvas. We camped there 35 years ago in a Coleman pop up.

I camped in my 10.0 at Madison Campground. It's a great location with bathrooms. If you want a bath take a dip in the Madison River next to the campground. The water is cold, but in spots you can find warm spots from thermals.

I had an a Wildernest pop up truck camper back in the 80-90s and they would not let us camp in the park due to the bears. Still on the bucket list to get back there. May be sooner if that lottery ticket wins!

Fishing Bridge Campground is the only one that bans soft sided pop ups or tents that I am aware of. I last checked the NPS site about 6 months ago.

We tent camped in Bay Bridge campgrounds 2 years ago. Very nice. The lower portion is wide open with little to no shade but we stayed in the upper section in the trees and it was great. There were tents, pop-ups and campers (dry camping) mixed in. There are facilities, a marina and you are 2 miles from Fishing Bridge (where we camped in our 21BHS last year) where all the stores, gas and other amenities are. Bay Bridge is across from Yellowstone lake and a good central location. All tent campers and pop-ups had to use bear boxes. When we tent camped we used Bear boxes and had to put the cooler in the SUV everyday when we left the campsite.
We visited Yellowstone twice during the last three years. We did not camp in Yellowstone, but camped at Buffalo Bill SP WY west of Cody. We camped on an electric site, enjoy camping there using the campground as base for visiting many places including Yellowstone. There were canvas sided campers there, too. They have hot showers and Cody is not too far away. There's a laundry mat in Cody that will wash and fold your clothes by the pound. Elk and Coyotes would occasionally pass through the the campground at night. We had over 6" of snow one day in September and ended up visiting the Buffalo Bill Center of the West for a day. Nice place to visit!
Just a thought!

I have stayed a Buffalo Bill State Park also. I liked it and the reservoir can be gorgeous ..
It is only a hour to the edge of Yellowstone. I did not think to use it as a base camp but there are many beautiful areas close to Cody and along the road to YNP.
Michael
that Buffalo Bills campground looks amazing. Thanks. I went and watched more videos on it.
Just got back from another camping trip!!!!! :)
We like camping at Buffalo Bill SP WY North fork campground. The last day in the year sites can be reserved is 9/15 ,walk up after 9/15, and believe sites can be reserved within 90 days of the stay.
Here's a few more photos:

Absolutely gorgeous! We love camping out west. Haven't been there for 15 years, but will be going back out one of these upcoming summers!
