Title: A Few More Mods for the QS 8.0
Post by: idaho on June 26, 2016, 02:45:52 PM
We added a lift kit to give us more ground clearance so that meant we had to modify the step.  We copied one someone else had done.  We use an adjustable platform step below the one on the trailer.  We also turned the storage tube around so we can access it from the door side.

Then we really wanted a back deck so we had a local aluminum utility trailer manufacturer add one on the back.  While we were at it we had them move the battery holder to the side so our Jeep's back door would fully open.  The green ammo box on top holds our Snap Tool, bar for the stabalizers and our blocks to go under them.

On our first outing I found a place to put the paper towels!

Very clever!  I am having a custom box fabricated for the tongue so I can move my battery into it as well as be able to store set up tools and other equipment.

I was just saying to my husband the other day that I wish the bunk pole tube was facing the door. How much of a pain was it to turn it around?

It wasn't hard at all.  Just a couple of screws holding it on.  We added a couple of heavy duty zip ties along with the screws when we re-installed it.

Very nice! How'd you go about lifting your pup?

The lift kit was ordered from Dexter Axle.  I think it was around $70.  We wanted to put larger tires on the trailer, but there didn't seem to be enough clearance in the wheel wells.

That deck looks factory stock - Truly amazing.  I have been looking for options myself to add one to the back of my 8.0.  Do you mind if I ask about how much that modification cost?

Flip that gooseneck and level it out man that lift looks really nice!

Was it just a set of spacers and longer bolts or flanges?

Thanks!
