Title: New owner of 8.1 QS as of today
Post by: charlie2922 on May 06, 2016, 08:42:26 PM
Purchased a 2015 QS 8.1 from individual and picked it up today. Pulled it home 240 miles. Is a dream to tow. I have a 2015 Tucson AWD with a 2.4 and 6 speed auto. Averaged 23 mpg on way home at 65-70. I have a long haul 18 wheeler trucking business and am impressed with the stability of this trailer. I do have a question of anyone out there that has surge brakes on theirs. Have you had any problem with the brake hose at the wheel end rubbing the steel bracket where they turned it 90 degrees. Mine are rubbed thru the outer layer on both sides. This camper was only used 3 times so is practically new and this surprised me that they were routed like this. Need a 90 degree fitting then the rubber hose coming off the wheel cylinder. I guess I caught it because I am used to looking for any kind of safety issue with my trucking equipment. I can be easily addressed and I am going to send pictures to Livin Lite people on Monday.
Love this camper. Back in the 80s we had a 1968 Cox pop up that had a very similar layout and top. I about wore it out. So I was already familiar with the way the design was. Just that it was steel, wood and army canvas.

Welcome, you live in a beautiful part of the country so I know you will have several great opportunities to use you QS shortly ( if it ever quits raining). I live a little east of you but am hoping to take my QS6 to your state shortly.

I agree about the rain Michael. We need to get the rivers and streams cleared a little so we can go fish some too.  My neighbors were very interested and loved the camper. They want one now.

Welcome from western MD. Blackwater Falls and Holly River are two nice state parks to visit. We love western VA and WV. May be light at the end of rain clouds as we are starting to see sun light today. Enjoy the camper and we will look for you.

You'll love that 8.1. Simplicity, elegant, light, quick..

I put a dual layer memory foam mattress in our 10.0 and it sleeps really well. Also, I really like the Valterra stabilizers. Two have made the trailer really solid to walk around in.
