I have an 2015 8.0 (never used) that was bought very cheap from a Craig's list seller. Is there any reason to purchase insurance on the trailer? Other than the cost to replace the camper, which does not interest me, I see no need for insurance. Are there any other reasons why someone would need insurance?
This is my first camper and I may be missing the big picture.
Thanks.
In a word, no.
In most, maybe all states any liability associated with your trailer while towing (it coming loose and crashing into another car) is covered by your TV's insurance. And liability is where the big risk is. So if you are comfortable with taking the risk of collision damage, theft, etc. to your QS 8 then you don't need insurance.
And FWIW per $1000 of insured value, it is rather expensive. Comprehensive (theft, wind, flood, etc.) is more expensive than collision for example, the opposite of cars.

Like David said, if you aren't worried about replacement then you probably don't need coverage. Check your state's regulations to make sure you don't need any to be road legal just to be safe.
I however did put additional coverage on my 10.0 which covers damages, and theft while not in tow. This also includes theft of the contents. I've always felt safe with campground security but should something get stolen out it while at camp, or at home for that matter, then it's covered.
The cost isn't much for my coverage so to me it's just one more added security.
Thanks. I'll check with my state (NJ) to make sure everything is on the up and up.
