We took the QS to Mom in law's on Christmas eve, set it up in the driveway. There was no place to sleep inside her house. It was cold at night, about 39-42 but a small ceramic heater on an extension cord was just enough.
I know, pretty major trip to report!
on another note, my wife and I went on a scouting trip yesterday down to Salton Sea, Anza Borrego and Julian. 8 hour drive...just because. We saw a dark gray QS 10.0 in Anza Borrego!
Our son lives in Southern CA! How did you find the areas you scouted out (Salton Sea, Anzs Borrego and Julian?) We will be heading that way in the next year or so.
I've done a lot of searching on google and youtube for quiet, clean campgrounds within a few hours of us. We/I like to take a drive and scope out the campgrounds and area. The north shore of the Salton Sea might be a two day excursion only. It's weird and beautiful at the same time. We really liked the Anza Borrego palm canyon state park campground. Clean, nice views, good bathrooms. Julian is sort of an alpine get-away in San diego county. We are but an hour to two hours from many mountain and desert camping areas. Joshua Tree is on my short list too. Most of these will probably be a couple nights/three days type of trips. Come summer it has to be mountain sites because of the heat..
