Title: Aluminum vs wood floor – Unintentional experiment
Post by: charliem on December 27, 2015, 08:09:34 PM
Here's a story validating the benefit of the wood-free camper. I had been working on the plumbing in the small cabinet below the kitchen sink that contains the pump and other piping. I had been adding piping to the hot water line in the process of installing a circulating system to prevent freezing. All was working fine for several days and I left city water connected while I went for a one hour bike ride. When I came back to check things I heard water running!  :o   Long story short a hose fitting had popped off and water was spraying in the cabinet and running on the floor. It was contained to the cabinet, but the ground outside and under the camper was soaked! Apparently I had not tightened the clamp and the poly hose just popped off the barbed fitting. :'(  No damage, just a short term panic and a spike in my blood pressure. I'll let it dry overnight and fix the clamp tomorrow. Just think of the rotten floor and/or walls if it had been a wooden camper. Thank you Scott and Camplite.   :)    8-)

Wow you were lucky to have an aluminium floor!

No, Paul, it wasn't luck. It was diligence. The lack of wood and steel was a prime factor in my decision to buy CL. This just confirmed and rewarded my choice. The hardest part of the cleanup was lifting the rubber floor mats to admit air. Not very hard at all   ;)

Yep that's exactly why we bought the CL brand. I've already fixed a leak that allowed water to get inside. Easy fix and never having to worry about subsequent damage is worth the price!

Anyone that ever owned a stick built trailer will know what your talking about, the lack of wood in our CL is the reason we bought it.
