Title: QS 10.0 signals and brake lights not working.
Post by: catmanriff on December 10, 2015, 09:17:13 PM
Hmm, I tested the output connections on my f150. But, the trailer lights not working. It's 6 months old, a Camping World purchase. I tried to trace the wires for obvious issues but they tuck into the frame..

Most of the time, it is a ground issue.

I agree that most of the time its a loose wire/ground issue. If the unit is only 6 months old I think I'd just bring it in for warranty work if the dealer isn't too far. It becomes a point of principle for me at that point...even if you can trace the electrical you shouldnt have to on a unit thats less than a year old.

Thanks.

it is a 3 hour drive to Camping world where we bought it...which wastes a day I suppose.  I will check ground.

Did you clean the connectors on the plug?  A Q-tip with alcohol, followed with a light coating of silicone grease may fix it?

I had a small soft wire brush and cleaned the contacts. sprayed them with WD40 then wiped them off.  I'm due to spend an afternoon on a more deliberate attempt however

update on my wiring issue. All the running lights didn't work, the passenger side turn and brake lights also not working. Even though I am under warranty, I decided to bring the QS 10 to a local respected RV repair shop. I have a trip coming Saturday. Also, my dealer is 3 hours away and I'd have to leave it. ...that means two round trips. $80 in gas at least.

So, the local RV repair found the issue. I picked it up this morning. Quote from the repair/wiring guy was that the "wiring looked like it was done by a jr high kid"

Oh well, cost me a fair amount to have it rushed. That's on me. But, i'm back in business, safe anyhow.

Thew shop suggested I try to recoup my expense somehow. Not sure if that would work.
