They said the brand was too unusual (unknown in this area) and they never had the particular model a customer wanted and the models they had sat too long in their inventory. Too bad. But I'm glad they carried them for a while or we would have never learned of them, and yeah .....they didn't have the model we wanted.
Same thing happened at the dealership we bought ours at. We were able to get a really good deal on ours because it had sat in their inventory for so long and they just wanted to move it out.
The LivinLite website still shows them as a dealer, but they don't have a single LivinLite product in inventory now...
Brenda, My guess is you already know this but American RV Co in the portland area carries Livinlite. They only have Bearcats in stock but can order any Camplite model. We looked locally with no luck, so took the drive south and ordered from them. They will also be attending the Regional Campout and will have a service tech on hand to help with small issues. Anyway they seem like a friendly bunch that opened this year.
We recently had some warranty work completed on our trailer. Chatting with some staff they also mentioned that they do not carry the LL brand any more. The main reason was cost, but the association with Thor also had some influence not to promote them any more. With the currency exchange CAD to USD our trailer that we ordered last November would now cost $48000.00! Now, add the tax and you have a TT that costs 50K! That is a hard sell for a 21' travel trailer.
D&H RV in Apex NC, where we bought ours, is still carrying LL and is getting in a good selection of 2016. I understand why some dealers are dropping them, but it's good to see someone willing to stick with quality. You'd think the dealers that choose to push only the low end RVs would get tired of the customers coming back with problems and complaints?!
This dealer carries plenty of quality trailers. The problem is they are 2,000 miles away and that's a lot of freight. And carrying expensive trailers to sit on your lot ties up a lot of working capital that they can use better on trailers made 50 miles away and which move faster because they cost 60% of the price (R-Pod).
Dealers never tire of the trade-ins and subsequent sale and turnover of inventory. The industry knows that most RVs are poorly constructed. My better half is attending an RV Tech Institute right now where the instructor clearly illustrated just how much folks love RVing that they should put up with the shabby after-sale treatment, RV issues, failures and unreasonable repair wait times. We're just gluttons for punishment!
Interesting..
