Title: Wheel Size?
Post by: offroadgirl on September 24, 2015, 06:07:59 PM
Hi all, I have the stock, non-offroad package wheels with a 2015 QS 8.1.  Does anyone know the wheel size?  I'm looking at getting a Trimax Wheel Lock Chock and they are made for different size rims.  http://www.bikebone.com/page/BBSC/PROD/Wheel-Locks/TCL75

Thanks!

The LL literature shows 12 inch wheels on the 8.1 Do you mean the overall tire diameter?

Ah, bummer, that's the only site I've found with a good comparison chart of the two wheel locks the company makes, and it looks down or gone now.

The larger model: http://www.walmart.com/ip/TRIMAX-TCL75-Trailer-Wheel-Locking-Boot/44049376

   Fits 4-8 X 12 16-5 X 6-5 -8 4-8 -R12 7-5- R16 195-75-R14 205-60-R15 Tire (who can read that?)

The smaller model: http://www.walmart.com/ip/TRIMAX-TCL65-Trailer-Wheel-Locking-Boot/44149420

   Fits 4-8 X 12 195-75-R14 205-60-R15 205-70-R15 215-70-R15 235-75-R15 Tire Sizes

I have no idea which would fit.  The larger one would give me more options now and in the future but I'm not sure if it's too big for the stock wheels/tires or not.  Anyone know?  Thanks!

It looks like the 65 would be your best bet. Also check Amazon they are $47 there. They also have reviews and a better description.

Lots of number! In tire sizing the first number is the width, the second number is a ratio of width and sidewall height and the last number is the rim (wheel) size.

So, on my 175/80-13 trailer tires, the width of the tire is 175mm, the tire sidewall is 80 percent as tall as it is wide, and the rims are 13 inches. If there is an R in the size, the tires are radials.

From what I read in the numbers you posted, either lock would work, since they both go small enough for a 12 inch rim. One will go a bit larger, but you're not likely to ever have the largest tire on a QS8.1?

We just use wheel chocks front and back of the tire on both tires and it adequately "chocks" the tires.
