Hi! We have been searching for used Quicksilver 8.0 for years, but have yet to find one in our area (Los Angeles). We have decided to up our budget and buy one from a dealer, because we just have had too much trouble buying a used one. After debating on options, we noticed that the off road version has a ton more clearance and much larger tires than the regular Quicksilver model. We would prefer the off-road version because we love to go to Mojave in the spring. We found an amazing price on one at a dealer near us, but it is not off road. Any suggestions on what to do? We don't want to pay the $10K it will cost us to buy a new off road from a dealer, but the lower clearance of the regular one makes us nervous. We need to stay at $7k and under. The regular Quicksilver from the dealer is willing to meet us at our goal price, but would we be comprising on with lower clearance? Any advice is appreciated! Were dying to get out and camp asap!
There are lift kits that can be adapted to work with a new QS if you need more clearance. Frankly I would just buy a standard one and see if it works for you before I worried about lifting it.

I have a regular 10.0. with small tires and standard clearance. I have made three cross county trips in a fully loaded 10.0. Clearance or tires was never a problem on any of our trips. These trailers are so light the tires really don't build the heat like a standard heavy pop up. Here is something to think about also. These tires are cheap to buy, and age kills all tires just as much as milage. Most likely you will have to replace your tires because of cracking caused by age, rather than putting on 30,000 miles, unless your a full time camper. When you replace your tires it's going to cost you less than $80 a tire.
One more thing, I could be wrong on this. I thought the off road versions had taller wheel wells in the trailer giving you less room to haul stuff.
Anyways, get what makes you grin most importantly. They do look cooler, and look very nice behind a jeep. If you know you are going someplace with no roads it would be a must.
Thanks so much for the advice! We took your advice and bought the regular 8.0 Quicksilver. I think it will be fine clearance for what we will need it for. Thanks again!!
Congrats!
