Title: Still in the planning stages
Post by: queen on August 01, 2015, 05:37:40 PM
Hello all.  Newbie to the forum but have been a camper all my life, just finally to the point that tenting isn't much fun so starting to consider campers. Thought long and hard about a Casita but the carpeted walls and low ceiling were a deal breaker.  Looked at some LLs when we were still living in Illinois and liked them, just curious how things are panning out with Thor in the mix.

Glad to have found this board.

Thanks, nailbender!

We shopped at Sunny Island in Rockford, but we were from Urbana.

Hi Queen -- Welcome to the forum! I too had considered a Casita - and a Scamp - but like you I wasn't sold on the interior style. They seemed dated to me. On the other hand I really liked the somewhat utilitarian interiors of the Camplites -- and I like the use of aluminum.

In my opinion, there doesn't seem to be much difference, positive or negative, with the Thor purchase. They do seem to have been able to increase production which I understand was the motivation to join Thor. They also have been able to develop the Ford co-branded truck camper which should raise the profile of Livin'Lite in the industry.

I actually contacted sunny island a couple of times.also found what I was looking for at a dealership in Michigan. It was a leftover 2013 16 dB and it still might be there. Then I stumbled on a 2015 16db at stl.louis rv.It was the only camplite they had and I don't  think I could have bought  one cheaper. So I went down and bought it.I like it a lot but I almost wish I bought the 21'.Maybe next time.
