Title: Mystery Leak
Post by: kycamper on July 25, 2015, 06:35:56 PM
We have owned our 21  RBS since October. Every time it RAINS REALLY HARD, we have a puddle of water that seems to be coming out from under the left lower corner  of the refrigerator. The water usually pools up in the corner where the refrigerator wall meets the bathroom wall, and then will pool in the bathroom. I first got on the roof and looked around the bathroom penetrations for signs of an opening, and caulked what I thought was the culprit. I was wrong. Yesterday, during a BIG storm, it did it again. I can see water dripping from ( under ) the refrigerator, but not enough to cause the amounts pooling on the floor. A call to our dealer, D&H, was prompt and well meaning, but not too helpful. I suspect water coming in from the upper refrigerator vent on the outside of the trailer. I don't have a ladder with me ( we are camping in Maine ), so I can't open that vent up and  poke around. Anyone else out there experience this phenomenon?? I might have to open up the wall below the refrigerator, where the heating duct is,to be able to see where the water travels from,  but I have no idea how to do this. Has anyone ever removed  either the wall or the refrigerator?? I sure would like to remedy this leak. D&H told me that ALL trailers are subject to mystery leaks, but I don't accept that explanation without going down "swinging". Thanks for any ideas, and

Happy Trails......

Not in that exact area.  Mine was in the front left.  I was laying on the bed (21RBS) watching TV and my foot against the wall felt damp. A small leak in the front left seam. Fixed up with some sealant.  I do think it's like termites in the South. It's not a question of "IF"  rather a question of  "WHEN"......

Would a RV drip cap above the vent help to divert water around the vent?

I thought about a drip cap but have no idea where to purchase or how to install one ( two )
Good thought, though
Thanks
I think water is getting in the upper vent and working its way down. Will have to give it the " hose test " when we return home

I have the exact same leak and cannot find the source yet!  Gleamb, have you had any luck finding your leak?

The trailer 's been in storage for a few months. Will be getting it ready for a big trip early June. Didn't find the source of the leak. I will give it a good once over when I remove the cover, but haven't any idea where the water comes from.
