Title: Cabinet latches
Post by: stewartnp on April 19, 2014, 04:40:20 AM
Okay we are on the road right now with our new 13QBB and a small issue with a cabinet door latch has arose. The door has latched itself closed with the door slightly cracked. Also the button to open the cabinet will not engage making the door stuck in this position. Any ideas? I'm sure there is a simple solution.

Not sure how you can open the door. That's a new problem and I can't replicate it. The door has to be fully closed before the unlatching button engages so try pushing on the door and/or the longer section of the button assembly to fully close and latch the door . Or look closely at another latch to see how you might work a card or tool into the crack to open it or engage the button. When you get it open, the latches are fully adjustable for closing/opening force and engagement point. The adjustment is made by tweaking the screw and nut combination on the back (inside) of the latch.

Is anything blocking free movement from behind?  Karen had that issue once - it impeded the movement of the latch arm, which does extend pretty far behind the latch.

Alright first day jitters! Got it fixed. The nut in the picture was unscrewed 2x's as far as the correct position. This is the correct position:

Now only if I can figure out how to keep the windows  propped up with these gas struts!

Don said I could just reassemble it, but I suggested they just send me a new one.

Rest have worked as advertised, so that's the good news!

[/p][p]Come time to pick up the unit, we asked the tech about it during the PDI. He made a puzzled face, and demonstrated them. They worked fine, haven't had a problem since.[/p][p]
[/p][p]So, operator error. Try opening.....them.....slooooowly....to....juuuuuust....paaaaast...the....cliiiiiiick.....and they'll probably be fine.[/p][p]

The struts on my windows didn't latch the first day we got them home, but over the course of our first camping trip, they started to work better.  Now they are perfect.
