i am getting ready to replace the crappy little 4" exhaust fans with a couple of the [a href="http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/create-a-breeze-fan/19708"]fan-tastic fans[/a]. any advice on sealing them? the way i understand it, there is already a membrane between the current fan and the aluminum roof, so i will need to...
1. remove current fan
2. clean off the old sealant
3. put self leveling sealant in all the mounting holes (assumes all the holes will line up, otherwise i will drill new holes as necessary)
4. add [a href="http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/butyl-tape-3-4-x30/39160"]butyl tape[/a] to the mounting flange of the new fan
5. put new fan in place, screw it down
6. seal around flange with a bead of new sealant
seems pretty straight forward, just dont want to end up with any leaks. any suggestion on which sealant to use?
thanks
[font size="3"]TinkeringTechie did this. Search and/or send a PM. BTW, I suggest a 3 speed non-reversible for the bathroom. Save a few bucks. You don't want to suck air and black tank fumes into the bath. The other(s) can be 3 speed reversible.
