Shovelhead, From what I can tell, the supporting roof trusses and frame for the skylight were cut and welded when the TT was a skeleton. I'm no welder, but I can't imagine trying to perform a mod that complex on a finished unit?

Kinda figured that.  Now what would really be nice is the complete bath area as a skylight.  Ala UPS Truck style :-)

At the time I had heard/read LL had installed a skylight in a smaller CL, but I never found an example on any dealer's lot and it was not offered as an option. When I requested that one be added the LL factory accepted it without hesitation so I concluded they were familiar, or at least comfortable, with the mod.  I don't know if they just cut out within the existing framing, or they specially boxed in the opening during fabrication. If the former, the skylight can be added by any competent RV shop. If the latter, the frame cutting/welding would give me extreme cause for pause. Definitely not a DIY project. Framing details can only be provided by the factory. BTW, it appears that some 2015 CLs are coming with the skylight standard.

You folks don't state what model vent you are working with. The early, including 2104, CLs used small single speed un-ducked fans. They were noisy and very inefficient. An optional upgrade got you larger, but still noisy fan. When I ordered mine I knew I wanted authentic Fan-Tastic vents. The LL factory would not honor my request to install Fan-Tastics, and sort of acted like they had never heard of them. I have subsequently replaced all three original vents with three speed reversible Fan-Tastic vents. The front two are covered with smoked Fan-Tastic Ultra-Breeze covers. With stuff on the roof including a rear view camera there was insufficient room to install a cover on the bath vent.

What a difference! The Fan-Tastics are quieter, more efficient, draw less current, and move so much more air. The good news is I think the newest CLs are coming from the factory with genuine Fan-Tastics installed. And BTW, there's a reason you don't reverse the bath fan or leave it open with the others sucking air out. Remember that black tank vent? (puke)

No idea who manufactured mine?

I bought my 21RBS last March. It has the XL upgrade but no skylight in the BR.  The overhead vent is a rinky dink one speed fan.  I get the feeling my CL is a 2013 even though I bought it in early 2014.  Is there a manufacture label somewhere?  Not that it matters since I dont think I can upgrade the skylight now (bummer).

LL, like most other manufacturers, crank in changes throughout the year. The concept of model year, unlike with an auto, doesn't really mean much.

Charlie, my 3 fans are noisy so definitely not fan-tastics. I plan to upgrade at least one this year!
You'll like it. The Fan-Tastics are 10" in diameter; the OEM  L'l Scremers are smaller, 4"-5". I like Tinkeringtechie's description of the OEMs: they expend most of their energy creating turbulence. You don't need that.

The fan blade diameter on my 3 OEMs are appx 9.5" and they move air out of the trailer very well... They're a little noisier than I expected, but until I actually hear a fan-tastic I have nothing to gauge by?

I meant to report back that I installed the first 2 Maxxair IIs last week, easy job, the smoke looks great - matches all the other black stuff up there! Hope to get the 3rd one on next week?

Charlie FYI, my fans are Vortex. The 21RBS brochure mentions them as part of the XL Pkg. I also found them here and they are a spot on match: http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/vortex-replacement-vent-fan-upgrade/49448

Two of the fans in my 21-BHS are the same as shown here. I ordered a high-capacity fan for the kitchen area when I placed my Camplite order with the factory. My dealer installed a Max II fan cover over the high-capacity fan for me upon delivery.

Would one of you mind posting pictures of the finished install?  From the looks of the product on Amazon it seems to sit higher than my AC cover by a couple inches (I have the smaller 9.2 kbtu AC).

Thanks!
