Senior Park Pass

[p][font size="3"]If you are 62 and over and visit our National Parks this is a great deal! This card, which is good for life, will pay for itself on your first park visit. It will also save you 50% of your campground fees, and other assorted fees. I got mine via snail mail about 7 years ago and it's still the same price. If you request it by mail you will have to submit  some sort of photo ID, a scanned copy of your drivers license will work just fine. What, you say you're not 62 yet. You are absolutely right! The Golden Age Passport aka the Senior Pass, is one of the best deals in camping. I got mine about 5 years ago and it has paid for itself ten times over.

Looking forward to this.  On December 18th, I'll hit 55, which means 7 years to the pass, as well as 7 years until I retire.  Great combination!

My sister and I took both our families and my parents to Yosemite for a week in May.   We split our parents up between our two vehicles to get in "Free" every day.  Highly recommended!   They are available at the gates of national parks.

So there is something I'm still useful for :-)    My USA tour this past spring I used the pass extensively.

Something, something, price or rules change after January 1...my wife somehow thinks we have to get it this month while the getting is good.

I don't know the details, but will try to find out.

We have two passes. One for each vehicle. If there was ever such a thing as a no-brainer, this is surely it. So far, this is about the only thing I've found that is an unqualified benefit of superannuation.

OK, so the Golden Age or whatever they called it has been deprecated and is no longer offered for sale. They will continue to honor them until you lose the pass or die, whichever comes first.

The Senior Pass is still a life pass, for $10. After 1/1/15 it goes to $40. So get thee hence to a National Park office and save the $30 while you can.

The pass gives you the vehicle, the person who owns it, and 3 others. The owner has to be 62 to purchase. No age for the others in the vehicle.

The pass is not vehicle-specific, but you CAN get a matching vehicle decal which is. The decal is only used at sites without an actual human ranger, otherwise check-in is via your pass.

It gives you free day use fees, and discounts on some services like campgrounds (but not hookups !)

We've been looking forward to that pass and they jack up the price ONE stinking year before we hit 62???

Mine is in my wallet, I was waiting in line on my birthday to get it. Best $10 dollars I have ever spent. Even got to use it a few months ago in St Croix in the US Virgin Islands at an old fort that's under the National Park Services.

I was told by my local office to do it through the mail ($20.00) as they do not have them and do not know when/if they will get any more.
