Prospective Buyer: detail dimensions of 16 TBS?

Ken,

We have a Yamaha 2400iSHC and really like it. The wet weight is about 75lbs. I'm 6' tall, load & unload the Yamaha on the Nissan Frontier tailgate without problems. Because of the weight, I don't want to load & unload several times while camping, so we slide it out on the tailgate during operation. The Yamaha will run our 13,500BTU AC unit.

We currently camp with a 11RD, and plan to move up in size with a LL camper over the next one to two years. We have been looking at a 21BHS, but after seeing the 16TBS on the DHRV site, it has features we like, too. Turning the twin beds into a King looks good with the ability to get on & off of the end of the bed, without crawling over someone during the middle of the night.  The vinyl floor over the aluminum floor & couch with trays (not sure if DHRV's has a dinette or couch) look interesting, too.

To the folks currently towing the 16TBS, is a WDH needed?

Bill,
We pull with a 2011 FJ Cruiser 6 cylinder and do use an Anderson WDH. We have no problem pulling our 16TBS with it. I do believe that D&H RV has just received two new 16TBS units in. One has the dinette and the other has the sofa bed in the leatherette. Check out D&H RV website to view/ We do have the sofa bed but in the cloth. As I have said before we have the wardrobe between the two twin beds.  It looks like when they took the wardrobe out of the 2015's they made the bin doors wider. We do like the wardrobe in between the two beds and are not sure if they still offer it. It provides privacy if one wants to stay up and read; almost like being in a separate room.

Showed my Wife the 16TBS on the DHRV site and she likes it too. We need to wait at least one year before purchasing. The 11RD will do fine until we move up in CampLite size. Tow with a 2013 Nissan Frontier with 4.0L 260HP V6, 6300lb towing capacity. It should handle a camper the size/weight of the 16TBS nicely!

Thanks for the info!

[p]I'm getting very close to putting an order together.  Can those of you that recently ordered help me out with the custom ordering?[/p][p]
[/p][p]I've never seen a camplite without the XL package, so I'm assuming I'd be getting that.  But I want to also get the smaller 9.2 A/C and the fantastic fan 5000 vents.  Are these pretty easy options to work out?[/p][p]
[/p][p]I've also wanted to spec the offroad axle/ extended rear bumper for carrying our cooler and a couple electric outlets in the back of the vehicle (wireless backup cam/12v charge port).  I'm guessing the axle/extended rear bumper needs to be done by the factory but can the rest of these options be done competently by a dealer or do I need to custom order everything.....  [/p]

I got LL to agree to install the vents you list plus fantastic covers. No problem at all to work with them.  I also got it solar ready, had additional electric plugs put in, and a propane quick release as well.  On the options list that they publish, I am getting the black water flush.  Now, I am waiting to hear from them on an expected date.  I am guessing three months from now.

My input on your order:

[ol type="decimal"][li]The XL package has so many good things it should be the standard. Go with it. The smaller AC and Fantastic fan should be easily negotiated.
[/li][li]The off road package and rear platform are listed separately on the option sheet.
[/li][li]The axle and rear platform must be done at the factory. Same is true for the outlets. The AC substitution and Fantastic fans could be done by a dealer, but shouldn't. Why pay for something twice? It's best to have the factory do as much as possible while they are building the unit. A lot easier, better, and probably cheaper. You'll need to work the back up camera yourself afterwards.
[/li][li]The rear platform is surfaced with sections of the aluminum flooring. They are approx. 4.5 inches wide. As such the platform can conveniently be any number of these from 1 to 4. The standard seems to be 4 sections for a length of 19.5". You may want something different. [/li][li]Check out my early posts for some more ideas such as gas/electric water heater, black tank flusher, and shower stall skylight if it doesn't come standad now.
[/li][li]Talk these options through with your dealer. He will work them with the factory and write them out in detail on the purchase agreement. The LL factory is very willing to accommodate reasonable requests. [/li][li]You are wise to order instead of buying off the lot. Now is your chance to get it exactly as you want it.  :)

Are you getting the shower skylight? If so, is it standard now or an option?

Saw a cassette toilet in a "LiL" Snoozy TT with an exterior door
allowing easy removal of the cassette for easy daily dumping.
The new aluminum Bowlus Road Chief has a cassette toilet
as stock equipment.

Will ask about installing one when we are ready to purchase a
larger LL TT. Would not need the black water tank with this type
of toilet.

My understanding on the skylight is that it is standard now.
[p]There are a number of discussions on the Trailmanor website on these and the Thetford recirculating toilet (it allows you to dump it like a black water setup but no black water tank.[/p][p]
[/p][p][a href="http://www.trailmanorowners.com/forum/index.php"]http://www.trailmanorowners.com/forum/index.php[/a][/p][p]
[/p][p]The Trailmanor product line was the one that I was vacillating back and forth with before deciding to go with LL.  I can tell you that the consensus is moving quickly from the recirculating version to the cassette version these days as owners are not so happy over seeing re-used toilet water coming back into the toilet.  The cassette toilet is plumbed into the water line of the camper so it always has water, you can dump it anywhere, and has its positives.  Having said that, I decided I wanted a toilet paired with the black water tank and believe it or not, the bathroom was the deciding factor for us to go LL more than anything else (all aluminum was a close second). [/p][p]
[/p][p]For towing, nothing beats the Trailmanor.

Thanks for the info on the Cassette toilet. Started reading threads on their forum about this system.

One of the main reasons we chose LivinLite line of campers is the rugged aluminum floor.

Had a Chalet folding A-Frame camper before buying the CampLite. Liked the Chalet, but the wood floor developed
floor rot. Their newer units have composite flooring that is not supposed to rot and cassette toilet as an option.

OK we're nearly ready.  Take a look and critique the 'ideal' 16 TBS spec.  There are a couple items on here I don't think are immediately available but we're trying to get as close as we can to all of these.  Many thanks to all the posts I'm stealing from!

Looks like a complete list. So far LL has declined to put the SeeLevel monitor in, but you may be the first. The separate fridge/freezer will require going to a 6 or 7 cf unit which will eat into the storage, but it should be possible. One more thing you will want is a better sewer hose and carrier. The preferred hose is the RhinoFlex 15' with a 60+ inch carrier . Either you or the dealer can install it. Let us know how it's working out.

One more dimension if one of you that has a 16' trailer with the offroad axle - my ball base is at 19" and I'm wondering if that is the right height for a level tow.  Thanks again for helping us get the order going
