No longer doing orders?

I just had a dealer tell me today that due to a range of changes made with the new management of livin lite, the dealer is no longer placing orders with them.  I know Thor bought the company a few years back but I'm just wondering what it was he meant by that.  Makes me nervous about buying one now.

There was talk ....oh about a year ago ? About a temporary moratorium on changes by the factory. IIRC it was attributed to the factory move.

It may also be that the rules of when the dealer has to pay the factory may have changed.

It isn't clear from your statement whether the factory was not accepting orders, or whether the dealer was choosing not to place them.

Our local  dealer stopped selling a couple of years ago which is why is took so long to get the nerve up to purchase and when we heard of all the changes being done it was a no brainer for us to try to find our 2013 model. In fact we drove 13 hours one way to buy ours used but in brand new condition. The reason for our dealer to stop carrying CL was due to quick turn around on cheaper models of other brands. People aren't thinking about the rot and rust when they are looking at the new models only people who research and think about the future after a few years and the troubles.  I would look for an older model that had been taken great care of. You will love it, we do, and they are getting harder to find.

I figured that Thor would main stream LivinLite to appeal to a wider group of potential buyers. Seasoned RV owners know what to look for and are better informed then the average first time TT buyer. I really don't think I would purchase a new LL, the woodless aspect of the Camplite is what drew me to the company, it seems they are straying from that mission and becoming more main stream. Evolution isn't alway a good thing!

Evolution isn't alway a good thing![/quote]Well, the wood is plastic laminate...so no rot, but as you know, there is no accounting for taste..as the saying goes.  I wish the painted metal was still happening, but I went for the "new" look...and thinking it would be a lot of work to change it myself.....more than I am willing to do. Just going to have to live with that aspect of an otherwise pretty good trailer.

Just going to have to live with that aspect of an otherwise pretty good trailer.[/quote]The biggest thing I would miss from the old doors are those latches.  They are really nice.  No way for a door to accidentally open while driving.  I think any wood for the door faces is at minimal to no risk for rot.

Pinstriper - they offer 3 different types of cabinet doors now. Only one is solid wood (the Sierra option like we got). The other 2 options are some sort of laminate with a vinyl layer on the outside and then I'm not sure about what's underneath (probably particle board).

Yep, looks like Wilsonart plastic laminate.  A lot of colors and patterns to chose from and they chose a dark(relatively) wood.  Not sure, new trailer we have, but 1/4 ply used on end panel on kitchen cabinet. I hit the extinguisher mounted there with my foot, pulled the screws right out. To be expected in 1/4 ply. Oy..
