After having the factory LP detector go off for no reason too many times, I recently disconnected the unit while at a campground. When we got home, I checked the price of a new one, which was about $100, and had a projected life of 3 years. It was located just above the floor, in the water tank compartment. Went to a local hardware store, and got a battery operated unit with more features than the hard wired unit, for about $28. No brainer.

The factory installed one likely was a propane & carbon monoxide detector. Is the replacement both too? If its only an LP detector you could get a separate CO detector. Mount the LP one low and the CO one high. When combined they typically are mounted low because LP can kill you quicker --- with a bang!

The replacement is a CO detector with a ppm display, which is mounted on a shelf at sleeper level. What bothers me about a combined detector is that there is a limited life span for a hard wired unit, and no way to reset the combined detectors when there is no leak. The readout did not indicate which chemical was present, it would just go off for no reason at any time.  I will rely on my nose, for now, for the LP.

Wish I knew which fuse to pull forcour 21 bhs and would for traveling. Annoying pulling up for gas and having to go inside everytime to keep resetting it.

I could not find a fuse for my unit, 2013 LL 10 truck camper. I pulled the unit out, which was just pushed into the rectangular opening, and carefully cut the wires, and wrapped the ends in electrical tape.
