A few weeks ago we took our new 16DBS out to a local park where there was no shade and the OAT reached 97 degrees.  The AC had a hard time keeping up.  I've been following the threads on this forum regarding absorption of solar energy and heating the skin of the trailer and thought I'd try some Mylar "space blankets".  At home the trailer is under a car port but the front end gets pretty well lit up in the evening.  I measured the black diamond plating and gray upper skin with a cheap IR thermometer and they read 145 and 135 or so respectively.  After adding the space blankets, that dropped to about 105 (measured on black diamond plate by pulling back the blanket).  I used white photographers gaffers tape to hold the two sheets to the front and I don't think that will leave residue when removed. If you're stuck in the sun without shade, this is a cheap temporary way to help keep the interior cool.  I've ordered the same white deck paint that Merlin's used to coat the aluminum roof surface as well. I found it much cheaper than Amazon at iboats.com, $28 + $6 shipping.

Here's links to the space blankets and gaffer tape

I agree that dark camper look really stylish but they're not very comfortable in use. It concerns not only campers, bot other vehicles too. That's why I never buy dark, dark-green, or dark-blue vehicles.
