New to us Owner of Quicksilver 10 in Austin, Texas

well.. as quick it was, we (I) purchased a quicksilver 10, will be picking it up December 12th. (after a drive of 18 hours to get it)

Back story ---

Rented a popup - after objections from the wife, afterwards the camping trip... she said nothing for a few days - would not discuss the experience.
at a football game, I saw her say ' I AM HOOKED ' on pop-up camping to a friend she was chatting with.

okay thats good enough for me, gonna buy one - but the one I rented was 2400 lbs, pushing my limits on a TV towing capabilities. Looked everywhere, rented again another type of popup.

Found this, knew it was what I wanted, I have YET to see it, YET to sleep in it, YET to see one in person.

honestly - i want a PUP - 100 percent, but my choices is very slim pickings.  Decided to pick up a used Quicksilver 10.

Welcome to the forum! What is your TV?

Welcome...If you like traditional PUPs then you will have no issues with the QS 10. I grew up in an old Coleman PUP and my QS 10.0 has a very familiar feel. I find I pay more attention to whats above me in the QS though since you have absolutely zero hard roof above you. Other than that its the same basic experience and I'm sure you will love it.

its 2015 Silverado 2500HD Crew Cab  (HA HA) its my dad's but when I bring it back to Texas, my TV will be the 2014 Town and Country 3.6 (3500 lbs towing capacity) thus the reason for a quicksilver 10 (would like a XLP but  couldn't find one 'used')

Sean: yes I think this will be just fine.  a few reasons I want a PUP

1. OFF THE FLOOR.
2. my knees and other joints are affected by my Arthritis (Im only 40!!!  sigh.. still going to doctors to get a full workup on what type)
    this affects my tent skills, as I need to kneel down, get up, move around etc: just takes too long, and makes me agitated -
3. I don't like sleeping on cots - wait I do like sleeping on cots - but I don't like waking up in em, or moving due to the size of cots.

A difference I think you'll notice is, no risers. For years (in tents) we watched people with standard roofed popups fussing with the risers and stuffing in the canvas. I still notice, especially when taking down, people orbiting their camper, carefully lowering and stuffing, lowering and stuffing. When asked, I characterize our Quicksilver as a "flip out" rather than a "pop up." That makes it easier both to set up and take down.

On take down I think it's best to have two people. While a QS can be handled by one person (I can set our 8.1 up alone in about 12 minutes), on take down it's pretty important to have one person on each side, off one end of the box, holding the canvas well away from the sides so that it can't bunch in the Bimini bars as they come down. There is no elaborate stuffing required, and in fact if you find yourself doing that you could get rub holes. The whole trick is holding the canvas well away as the bars come down. The remaining tent will then be lying over the sides. You simply flip the sides over on top of the folded-down bars and that's it. No stuffing required. The factory says the bars may lie flatter if you take down the kitchen end first. (We've found on an 8.1 it's just the opposite.) Once we were alongside a standard popup and I wanted to secretly race. I waited until they started their takedown procedure so we could start with them. We were driving away when they were still carefully lowering and stuffing.   Our QS has been beat half to death over 5 full seasons, hundreds of camps, thousands of miles, and not one single rub hole in the canvas ever.
