Are we high maintenance perfectionists?

When I sat in the dealer's office and began to lay out my list of changes to the 21-BHS,  he told me that he wasn't used to many requests for changes. He wasn't even sure if the factory could handle it. Most people just choose from what is on the lot and drive it off.

The question for you experienced Campliters is are we the exception? Are most of the Camplites used and enjoyed just as they come from the factory? Or are we, as I suspect, high maintenance perfectionists?

"Impressed" with LivinLite flexing their manufacturing process to give a customer everything they want. It further inspires me to
set up our next camper how "we" want it from LivinLite. I knew we were going to modify our CampLite when we purchased it
because I enjoy improving/modifying motorcycles & campers.

Very smart on LivinLite's part. Once word gets around, other folks will have their camper built how they want, too.

I believe LivinLite is the exception!

I think its the dealer you are dealing with rather than you. Its not common for a factory to be so accommodating so the dealers don't know how to deal with it.

Being new to RV'ing, Karen and I really had no background from which to draw to even know what options or mods would be nice.

And as such, our stock 21BHS is just fine.

I showered in our rig for the first time last week, and while a shower skylight might be a nice addition, at 6'1" I still had adequate headroom (barely). And one less skylight is one less leak source.

A dual-power water heater would seem logical, to save propane when hooked up to shore power, but not a big deal.

We have yet to see a need for a built-in back flusher - the Valterra unit we bought seemed to do an admirable job the first time we tried it.

We have yet to see a need for tank level indicators. At least as we've used the camper to date.

That said, after a couple years of use I would not be surprised if we end up with a list of "must haves" for our next rig - if there even is a next rig.

It would be really easy to say the dealer was lazy and didn't want to go through the trouble of your paperwork.

But it really sounds to me like code for "I've got this inventory sitting here that I've got money tied up in, so it would really be better for me to talk you into taking one of those, especially since you can always pay my service department for your customizations later."

To answer the question in your thread title I would personally answer "yes", but I also think that when you're paying roughly double for a similarly sized trailer you should be allowed to pick pretty much whatever features you want within reason.

Fasteddie, I am so happy to read your reply. Charliem was my inspiration to go for it when ordering my Camplite. Now I read what he, tinkering techie, and funpilot are doing, and I am thinking... Am I going to regret not ordering some of these things they are working on aftermarket? I don't know, but I got what my husband and I thought we would need to be happy.

This is our first RV as well. We have friends with RVs, and our list was made as a result of their experiences.
