Does anyone know what type of material that is beingvused in the new models. I want to change out the plastic sink to stainless and get better/smooth tops. Haven't contacted company yet for pricing as someone suggested. I thought if I could get the material around here I might not have to travel to Indiana to get it done.

I'm a little confused. What do you mean when you write "get better/smooth tops"?

With the counter you have already it should be possible to swap out the plastic sink bowl for a stainless one. The trick is to find one the same size or modestly bigger. What doesn't work is to try installing a smaller one because the existing hole will be too big! 

If your existing counter is one of the rigid foam laminated with traditional 'Formica' type (as my Camplite built in 2012 has) and you'd rather a solid surface one (like Corian) you don't need to go back to the factory. Any local place that sells residential kitchen cabinets can get a Corian replacement for you. If you wanted to replace your countertops at home they'd come out to your home and measure. Because the one in your RV is so small it probably isn't worth their effort to come to you measure as your job won't be very profitable. So instead remove your countertop and take it to them --- have them reproduce it with a Corian solid surface finish. Same size & same thickness...

To get the thickness they'll likely use plywood that will be finished on the top and sides with Corian. The sides are glued by the fabricator to the Corian top with an almost invisible glue line. A wall splash can also be glued to the counter by the fabricator (or installer). The finished replacement counter will just sit on the cabinet's aluminum tube frame and attach from below just like the original. It certainly wouldn't be difficult to install. If you didn't want to tackle the install yourself, if you can get the trailer to the fabricator's shop they'd likely happily install it for you. It would likely take them just a few minutes. Of course they could also come to your house to install but that might add to their costs significantly. You (or a plumber) would then finish by installing the new sink and reconnecting the plumbing. Reconnecting the plumbing might well be harder than installing the new countertop.

Getting a countertop replaced in this way could potentially be quite reasonable in cost. The amount of Corian material required is quite small -- as compared with a residential kitchen. Some shops might even be able to fabricate your counter from leftovers from another job if your flexible on the color. (Corian comes in approximately 30 patterns/colors). If you think this might be worth checking out further then, before removing the counter, take a few pictures and the basic measurements and talk to a few kitchen places. They might well give you a quote with just that info. If you are willing to be flexible on color let them know as it might make a difference to some shops. (Most don't throw away larger scraps as the base material is fairly expensive).

I went to a local shop and got an estimate on Corian counter top and under mount sink. I had them had two inches in the front and one inch longer on the door end. The back splash is also to be taller. My estimate was $1300, they take out the old and install the new. Have not pulled the trigger yet but will soon. i am trying to get another estimate for comparison. The shop told me they had a minimum charge so not sure if the $1300 is way high or reasonable.

Are the tops not corian now? I just want the top to be as hardy as the camper. I read of separations in the tops that came in it and although ours isn't yet, if I was going to replace the sink might as well go ahead and get the tops replaced that water and heat doesn't hurt. Just don't want to add any weight to camper, smooth as in the like quartz smooth not the weight but smooth so when I spill something it doesn't go behind or in between some glued on laminate. Also, don't want a cabinet place sending out a slap happy no care person to tear up or scratch up my camper. Don't want someone guessing on how to take the old out and put new in. Does anyone have the new tops and are they corian? Thanks for info.

We have a new 21BHS with the solid countertop and stainless steel sink. I don't know what material the countertop is made of but I don't think it's Corian. It's similar to Corian but I'm guessing it's some type of hard plastic. It looks nice but it's fairly easy to scratch the surface if we're not careful.

Since we selected the Sierra interior finish, this is the color of countertop that comes with that. Here is a pic.....

You have a very nice looking camper! I think I will get a price on some corian locally when I get a chance. The smooth countertops look really neat but my main concern is having a stainless sink instead of the plastic one. It gives a nice place to put a hot pan out of the convection oven. Caught myself trying to set a pan on mine when we camped Memorial weekend and had to get use to using a trivet. I need to find a sink and new faucet and get this mod done. Thanks again for the pics.

Send a PM to TinkeringTechie and ask how much cutting he had to do to install his SS sink. I think his went in pretty easily. It was about the same L and W, but considerably deeper than the OEM sink. Mine is bigger all around, but did take some carfull cutting.
