Hello all! Rob and I traveled west across Middle Georgia to Roosevelt State Park in lovely Pine MountAin, Georgia last weekend. The camp ground was full so there were lots of friendly folks. As a matter of fact across from us was that darling LL QBB 2013 from Bryon, Ga. We missed out on. Great to meet Rex who was very happy with his QBB. Told him I cried about missing out on on getting his 2013 13QBB until my husband was able to find our 2013 16DB. Thanks to Rex for all his helpful tips. We appreciated the help. It was our 2nd trip so we have alot to learn. We got some nice pictures of our LLs but I don't know if I can load them here. Looking forward to more camping adventures.  See ya on the road soon. MJ.

We enjoyed Fernandina Beach because we were able to take our dogs on the beach. Fort Clinch State Park is about a mile down the road from Fernandina Beach. The park has 2 campgrounds, one of which has beach access on the bay side.

We made day trips to Fernandina Beach from St. Marys Georgia. It is a about an hour drive.

We stayed at Crooked River State Park in St. Marys and enjoyed a very private campsite. We were able to drive around to choose our site, and then report back to the office because the campground had a lot of vacancies. We did not camp on the circle. At the "T", we did not turn left to continue around the circle. Instead, we turned right and camped at the last site next to the mowed field.

We explored the very nice riverfront in St. Marys in addition to the state park. There is a naval station in St. Marys, Kings Point. When submarines are arriving or leaving, they go right by the state park on their way to the Atlantic Ocean. Locals gather to watch them go by.

The subs exit Crooked River at Fernandina Beach, another good spot to view the subs. Unfortunately, they did not go by while we were there. Locals told us about the time the sub collided with a buoy. They were chuckling about that.

An interesting note about Fernandina Beach - the authors John Grisham and David Baldacci have houses right on the beach. Locals described John Grisham's house to us, and we believe we found it.
Located in Kentucky and Florida at present

That is cool. John Grisham actually is from Oxford, MS which is about 30 min from where we live. He comes to a local Ole Miss bookstore and signs copies of his books when he has a new one coming out. I really want to shark tooth hunt on Fernandina Beach. I hear people have good luck finding them there. Thanks for all the good information about these campgrounds.
