Torque bits

Anyone know what size the star looking torque bits are that fit the exterior screws and/or interior floor table bracket. I have one bit but it is the wrong size. Going to Lowe's to try to find one tomorrow but if anyone knows what size or number I need to buy would be very helpful.

Thank you[/quote]I don't think you can find a star pattern to fit but a square S2 works on mine.

thank you[/quote]It is a pretty common bit for deck screws so they should have it. I found some at a True Value.

Has anyone tried a Spider bit? They are 8 point like the screws in our LivinLite, but it is impossible to tell from pictures if they are the right size. Looks like Spider is a single size...

The screws are definitely square drive S2 bits. I can't say one way or the other for the spider ones though.

[font size="3"]Technically the screws are called double square. They are a modification of the square or Robertson head, but adapted for easier engagement. The same effect as going from a 6 point socket to a 12 point socket, with the same increased roundoff potential. As mentioned, a #2 or S2 (Red) square bit works and is readily available.

When I get the screws out do I need to fill the holes in with anything? I will be removing the table bracket.

[font size="3"]Depends on where the screws are. Outside, definitely fill with silicone or Dicor caulking. The table is your choice, but it doesn't hurt to fill with silicone or Dicor caulk. If the holes are exposed it will have a minimal effect on air/dust infiltration. If you have the stock uncovered aluminum plank floor it's not worth the effort.
