I am very pleased that we now can attach photos to our posts. Thank you for that. Today, however, I was unable to post a picture I took ( JPEG) and uploaded to my Mac. The attachment said it was " too big ". You allow 1MB and my photo was 1.9MB. I am not the sharpest tack when it comes to this stuff, and I tried to reconfigure the photo, but was unable to. I also hoped that, in the future, I could use my iPhone to take photos and upload them to a post, but am not sure how to do that, either. If someone out there has the time and patience to help me, I would appreciate it and look forward to posting pictures in the future. Thanks

Pictures taken with an iPhone generally exceed the 1MB limitation. I use a PC so can't directly help with a Mac, but someone else will pop in here. The PC has a built in app, Paint, that allows resizing and other editing and I'm sure the Mac has a similar app. As for direct from an iPhone, I don't think so unless perhaps, TapaTalk. I tried it and didn't care for it, but maybe others have had better luck. Also, I don't know if TapaTalk will work with our new forum. I just download iPhone pix to my PC, resize and upload as attachments to the forum. I usually want to save the pix on my computer anyway.

This will seem complicated when it's written out, but really it's very easy and takes less than a minute (after you've done it once!).

I assume you have uploaded your photos to your iMac and they are in the "Photos" application. (That's what I do when uploading photos from any camera.) From there:

On your iMac:

1.   In "Photos", select the photo you want to attach to a forum post.
2.   In the "File" menu, choose "Export", and then "Export one photo"
3.   A box will pop up giving you choices how to export the photo.
4.   In that box, choose "High" for the "JPEG Quality" and "Large" for the "Size". Leave everything else the same.
5.   Then click on "Export"
6.   A second box will pop up, with choices of where to put the file. I use "Documents".
7. Then click on "Export" again.
So you now have a relatively small (less than 500KB) photo file that's an ok size for the forum and still has excellent quality.

On the Forum:

When you want to attach that photo to post, just go to your "Documents" folder and select that file to attach (it will be named whatever the original photo file was named).

As an addendum, you can send photos directly from your iPhone to a variety of places in a variety of sizes. But I don't know of any way to get a small enough file on your iPhone to directly post to the forum with the 1MB limit. I just use my iMac to handle all the in-between stuff for photography.

As Merlin notes above, when you send an iPhone pic by email, either to itself or to another device, it asks you just before it sends what size to use. You can then pick a size that this forum will accept. Then with your other device (which in my case is a windows PC) I create the post and then attach the reduced size picture.

Thanks to all of you for your help. I'm giving it a try!

I just go into the i-phone photo roll on the phone;

then I select the forward icon (which is the little box with the arrow pointing up);

after I check the photos I want,  I then select the e-mail icon and actually email them to myself.

Before sending, like Merlin says, I pick the medium sizing for the photos and then save them onto my mac desktop by opening the email and double clicking each photo(I also rename them at this time).

When posting time comes around, I select the attachment file of the few photos on my desktop and add them to the forum.

I then put the photos into a file or onto the trash can for deletion.

This way  don't have to wait for i-photo to update and my phone to auto update, etc,etc.

Hope this helps, it's a low tech work around I know...

I do the same thing and you can hold down the reduced sized picture and send/save it right back into your photo roll. Only problem is when you pick the pic to post pick the right oneĀ  ;) . At least that way you can post it right from your I phone.
