I winterized and stored my Camplite 16TBS here in north western Connecticut last year which probably has a similar climate to yours. No rodent problems or leakage/moisture. For my approach to winterization this year, check out this thread: http://livinlite.proboards.com/thread/1580/winterization-2015

There are a few people that have taken the canvas off the trailer for winter storage.

I just got mine into the garage.

Since I never used the water tank and sink, I didn't worry about them.  I did remove the cover and tent, to be stored indoors.  Same for the cushions and mattresses.  While the trailer is stored indoors, the garage does have a habit of making its home to mice and voles.  I don't feel like taking a chance.

I also disconnected and removed the battery.

I take the canvas off. It's super easy to take off, and if you follow the instructions in your manual not that difficult to put back on. One year I did leave it on and I did get a little mold growth on the canvas.

The winter around here (North Carolina) is relatively mild. I simply close up my 10.0 after one final clean out and let it sit for the winter. I dont worry about removing the canvas, nor have I worried about rodents. I do store the trailer outside but under a carport type shelter. I have not had any problems to this point.

I will say this...in the colder weather the canvas is nearly impossible to work with. I would imagine that in your temps it would even be damaging perhaps if you had to work with the canvas while cold. So if you dont remove the canvas then plan on it staying closed until the weather warms up.

Just my thoughts...

Sean, thanks for your post.

I have no carport, last year I built an a-frame support that I placed on the top of my QS and covered the whole thing with a tarp. It worked, but it was very problematic as no matter how I secured it the wind would remove the tarp every now and again.

I wonder if leaving it outside without any cover is OK for long time. Or, maybe there is another way to secure the tarp to it.

Corners of the camper are also sharp and cut the tarp badly.

My first impression with using a tarp is simple...Unless it's a thick canvas tarp or one of the newer breathable types that are custom fit, it's probably going to be a waste of time. Really all I'm looking for is a wa h to reduce sun damage while the camper is in storage. So with that in mind, I like your A-frame idea. I could see where that has the best potential for keeping it covered, without building a stand alone shelter. I would think securing it should be possible. How did you do it last time? Maybe the collective around here can throw out some ideas on how to do it differently...
