Got an easy one for y'all. I'm considering buying a new fresh water hose. Looking at a NeverKink. The question I have is why do we buy 5/8" hose when the internal lines are 1/2" and we ( should ) have pressure reducers on the hose?? Logic would dictate 1/2". Have any of you been using these?? Also, 25' or 50'?? I have, on rare occasions, had to add hose to my 25 footer. Told you it was easy.

It's really a question of flow rather than pressure. Just like wire gauge determines the resistance for electricity, the hose diameter will determine the resistance for the water. A 5/8" hose will be able to deliver more water at a given pressure than a 1/2" hose even if the last few feet are 1/2" within the trailer. Since everything in the trailer is low-flow anyways you'll probably be fine with even a 3/8" hose if you're only using a 25 footer. If you need more hose I'd get a second 25 footer so you don't need to lug around the 50 footer all the time.

[font size="3"]Agree with the above comments. I carry two 25 ft. x 1/2" hoses. Mostly just need one. If I anticipate needing more I add another 1/2 x 25 ft or carry a 5/8 x 50 ft. All the water fixtures in the CLs are low flow, limited to 2 GPM, so 1/2" hose is fine unless you're running hundreds of feet. NeverKink is an excellent brand. Also consider a 10-15 ft length of white 1/2" and a double valve Wye fitting for outside use, along with an in-line water filter. Keeps crud out of the water system.

The white hose can be connected to the black tank flusher IF you're connected to clean city water. It's handy when camped at a full hookup site. If you're going to flush the black tank at a dump station use a 25 ft green or black hose for this and never use it for drinking water.

I carry a 25 ft, a 15 ft, and two reel type hose, (25 ft each), and there was one time I needed them all to fill the fresh water tank,,, 8^)
