We've wrestled with this same disease over the years and thus far, have managed to keep it in remission.   We've thought of Hobie Cats, and also this same aluminum bottom type dinghy.  At this writing, the sillier half of us continues to toy with some baseless notion that the hauler can float and troll.  No speed needed...just float and troll.

Have fun with your new toy!
[p]HA! This little Ford Escape never saw it coming! Neither did we to be honest... Keep the paint all spiffy then trade it in (if it survives). [/p][p]
[/p][p]Hey, don't know if you know about these Porta-Botes. They are sort of trick. You can mount them to the sides of the trailer even. I almost pulled the trigger but they are not a seaworthy as the RIB and they cannot handle much HP or weight for waterborne camping trips. Have a look![/p][p][/p][p]
[/p][p]Oh, and another vid you might enjoy.[/p][p]

Saw the porta-a-boats at RV show earlier this year...remember vaguely that they were very expensive.  They'd pack up and cart around easily enough.

I love the idea of putting a 6.0 or 8.0 on a pontoon!!!

Really!  We...okay, I like the idea of a pontoon under our toy hauler.

Better idea...Take a 8.1 with the toy hauler deck, slap a couple of pontoons under it and an outboard off the back and we are good to go. Then when not on the water, keep it on a beefed up trailer and use it as a land RV / Toy hauler :)
Can I claim copyrights to the idea b/c I know those will sell :)

I like the idea of enclosing the bottom of my custom 21-BHS to make it water-tight, beefing up the back bumper to put on a motor, giving me a combo camper and houseboat.  Now I just need to figure out how to steer it with no window in either the front or the back...

Leslie,

You mount two large towing mirrors on the sides facing forwards. You sit inside facing backwards looking out the side windows at the mirrors. I don't know how you figure out which way to turn the wheel.   :D

@Leslie, just pop you head out of the top vent, or better yet treat it like a submarine and use a periscope :)

This doesn't sound like it is much different from backing the Camplite into a campsite!

[p]Leslie, I think an Old Crow up in a Crows Nest would work too. "Hard to port, Matey! arrrrh!"

Like this guy except up on the roof, instead of the brush and bionic knee switch in a telescope and an eye patch.[/p][p]
