Hey I think I saw your Rig parked in prestwick a week or so ago??

canuck

Yes, that would be ours.

Funny!

And we are down in Auburn bay, practically neighbors!

Hoping to pull ours out this coming weekend to do a few "Mods" on it.

I am in prestwick as well.  Awesome!

Hi Neighbors!

I just upgraded our storage lid gas struts.

If any of you are interested in upgrading yours the new struts are Lift-O-Mat 2171IG 85LBS struts from Princess Auto, $29.99.

Also, if one of you would like my OEM struts just let me know and you are welcome to them.

Cheers!

May have to make the trip to Princess Auto, we upgraded our mattress (Ikea Malfors), have not tried the lift yet, but I am quite sure the OEM struts will not work.

Do you think the attachments need to be beefed up (there is a thread about that)?

The attachment points on the 21RBS are adequate as is. They are solidly mounted to 1x1" tubing. I replaced the OEM struts with 60# struts. They work fine with the newer OEM 8" mattress and 2.5" dense foam topper. There were some early concerns with the bunk bed struts on the 21BHS, but I believe they have been resolve.

Charlie, our new 21 BHS struts for the front storage area are working well with the 8 inch mattress and mattress cover. Our problem is the rear bunk storage area. It is almost impossible to lift this bunk up to get to the storage. I will add a handle to help the lifting but the struts are so poor the top slams down. Where did you get your struts?
I still owe you an answer on the 2 5/16 tongue bolt on process by the dealer. I will have to go to the storage facility to get this info. I will try to get this by Sunday.

MonteD,

Others have dealt with the bunk struts: [a href="http://livinlite.proboards.com/thread/440/bed-lift-21rbs"]http://livinlite-owners.com/thread/440/bed-lift-21rbs[/a]

Maybe you can get some ideas. Early models had some issues with attachment, but I think they were resolved. I bought my struts a Camping World. They usually carry a good selection.

You might PM Tinkeringtechie. He upgraded the bunk struts in a 21BHS.

My 2015 21-BHS has bunk struts that work well. I think LL fixed the problem for the latest models.
