if you are thinking about upgrading the stereo, you could choose a model with the usb in on the back (many digital media receivers have them), and then hood up a remote usb adapter to place the plugs where you want.  this way you can charge and also use it as an input, which allows you to play the files off of a thumb drive, phone, mp3 player, etc.

i used this one so i would have both 3.5mm and usb inputs.  the use port charges and plays

My 6.0 has two USB ports directly above the 12 volt socket.  All on the same plate.

This is simular to what i have, it fits right over the stock outlet and provides surge protection as well as usb charging.  Can get it at your local Wally World.[/p]

Yes they are great but I'm thinking about relocating the factory outlet a little higher on the cabnet or maybe next to the outlet by the one for the A/C.  I just dont like it so far down by the floor when the sink is sitting above it.

I was thinking about adding a outlet on the upper part of my cabinet just the other day. I figure if I do it, then I'm going to install one of the outlets that has built in USB ports. They will only work on AC power but thats fine by me. Now the tricky part is dealing with the fact that the upper cabinet drops to the floor for packing, but I think I have a slick way of doing it.
I recently used the high amperage quick connect terminals on a 12v project. This things are the same terminals used to quickly power a automotive winch, and are rated at 50 amps. They should be able to handle a single 120v circuit at 15 or so amps. Here is the first one I found at amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Driver-Battery-Connect-Recovery-Products/dp/B00FXWLD88/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1428696296&sr=8-3&keywords=12v+quick+disconnect. They are all basically the same. Wire those up with the hot and neutral lines, and then maybe a separate ground if there is no good local grounding location. These keep the terminals protected when not in use and have a firm, positive connection when needed. Now I just have to figure out where I want the outlet to be.

-Sean[/quote]How about mounting a normal duplex outlet to the top of the permanent cabinet with an extension cord going to the back of your new outlet on the moveable part?  Just unplug it when you fold it down.

I have been pondering the extra usb chargers also. I often wake up before the rest of the family and it is nice to just read the news while laying in bed. Seems like a usb charger hooked up to the stock lights that come with a quicksilver would a great spot to charge your phone next to bed. I took out the original bulbs and replaced them LEDs so you would think there would be enough power to share for light and charger.

[/p][p]It's got a power button and can source quite a load of devices. The shelf will go hardwired by the bed on the fridge wall. We have 5 devices to charge including some 18650 batteries. Tends to get like a jungle.[/p][p]

Light with 12volt charging. 

This was easy cheesy, go to autozone get blue 18 gauge wire splicers and cigarette lighter. I guess it was a total of $8.

Tested it on air pump. Pump worked great with light on at the same time.  

By the way I have LED light installed instead of the stock light.
