Flex Seal

The time has come when I need to recaulk some of the joints where vents etc. are on the exterior of my camper.  I just saw a television ad for Flex Seal, where it is being used around a window on an RV. It looks so simple. Does anyone have any experience with this ptoduct?

I wouldn't use that stuff. You need a good bead around the joint, and a spray won't give you that.

If you need to caulk around windows, the water heater, etc, use a caulk like Proflex RV ( http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/proflex-rv-flexible-sealant-bright-white/20442 ). It comes in various colors; I use clear.

If you need to seal around anything on the roof, use Dicor self leveling sealer ( http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/dicor-self-leveling-lap-sealant-white/32125 )

I agree with djsamuel.  Use an RV sealant.   I don't have any personal experience with flexseal, but my boss used it and said it produces a very thin film and wasn't timpressed with it.  I don't think it would work well in narrow joints, more of a wide area for a temporary fix kind of thing.

I use EternaBond tape for sealing roof vents, roof seams, etc. [a href="http://www.eternabond.com/RoofSeal-p/rv-rs.htm"]http://www.eternabond.com/RoofSeal-p/rv-rs.htm[/a]  I still use regular cartridge type sealant on visible seams purely for the aesthetic value. However, I no longer use silicone seam sealant as it will not stick to itself, which makes resealing or repairs very time consuming. I've had good success with both the vertical and the self leveling Dicor products, as it will remain tacky for several years.
