Is it necessary to cover our Camplites?

The plan that we have for our Camplite is to be somewhere camping for at least a week out of every month. We plan to give exploringcarolina some competition for the honor of who gets the most use out of their camper!

Given that our aluminum campers are painted with automotive paint, is it really necessary to cover our campers?

I have an air conditioner vent on the roof and once some snow blew up an under the vent, into the air conditioner proper and leaked into the camper when it melted. Certainly it wasn't a huge issue but if you get a lot of snow where you are it's something to consider.  Other than that just typical wear and tear and exposure to the elements kind of stuff.

Good question Leslie.   I'm also curious in hearing from owners who have experience either way.   I know my trailer sat outside on the dealers lot during the worst winter we've had in quite a while here in PA.  There doean't appear to be any adverse affects, but that doesn't mean there aren't advantages to using a cover.    I never considered the snow situation mitch mentioned but I see how that could happen.

I store mine in a storage facility during the winter and I don't use a cover during the summer, I haven't own it for long enough to tell if there was any effect but I don't plan to have a cover on it during summer, too much trouble and I use it almost every weekend so would be a lot of work to put and take down hehe

I've always used a cover during the winter on my campers (and boats) mostly to help keep leaves, twigs and maybe ice/snow from getting into places it shouldn't be on the roof.  Something like a giant shower cap would be perfect, but lacking that I normally just use a cheap cover to keep the roof clear of debris.
