Has anyone added more visible brake and turn lights??

I do not like the small, low placed brake and turn lights on the bumper, and feel that this is minimal at best. I would like to add some nice looking, but much larger and brighter brake lights that will be mounted about 4-6 feet above the ground.  I do not want wires on the outside of the trailer. 

Has anyone done this? I searched and did not find anything.  Also, are there any laws or codes that would impact the location of these lights?  thanks.
